Song of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian:
The Qi of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian originates from the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner), descends to connect with the Large Intestine, emerges at the贲门 (cardia/pylorus region), ascends through the diaphragm, and belongs to the Lung. From the lung system (trachea, larynx, etc.), it emerges horizontally from the axilla, runs along the anterior aspect of the medial side of the upper limb, passes through the cubital fossa, forearm, Cun Kou pulse point, and Yu Ji acupoint, terminating at the medial root of the nail on the thumb. Its branch emerges from behind the wrist, connects with the medial end of the index finger, and joins the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. This meridian is abundant in Qi and deficient in Blood. When this meridian undergoes pathological changes, symptoms include wheezing and coughing. Lung distension with a feeling of fullness, pain in the Que Pen area, and crossing both hands over the chest indicate Bi Jue (Arm Jue syndrome). Diseases generated by this meridian involve Qi rebellion, cough, wheezing, thirst, mental restlessness, and chest fullness/stagnation. Pain in the anterior medial aspect of the arm, frequent urination, and heat in the palm occur. Lung Qi deficiency leads to shoulder and back pain with cold sensation; Lung Qi excess causes pain, aversion to wind, and sweating. Yawning/stretching, shortness of breath, uncontrolled defecation, and altered urine color are also seen.

Song of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian:
The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian originates at Shang Yang (Shangyang, LI1) on the medial side of the index finger, follows the finger upwards, emerges at Hegu (Hegu, LI4), travels between the two tendons and radial bone along the forearm, enters the elbow lateral aspect, ascends along the upper arm lateral aspect to the anterior shoulder end beside the Dazhui vertebra, enters the Que Pen (supraclavicular fossa) from below the shoulder, connects with the Lung, descends through the diaphragm, and belongs to the Large Intestine. Its branch ascends from the Que Pen into the neck, crosses obliquely across the cheek, enters the lower teeth, circles the lips, crosses at the Renzhong (人中, GV26), ascends to flank the nostrils, and pours into Yingxiang (Yingxiang, LI20). This meridian has abundant Qi and Blood. Pathological changes manifest as swelling of the cheek and toothache. Diseases generated include rhinorrhea/epistaxis, yellow eyes, dry mouth, and throat obstruction. Difficulty using the thumb and index finger, and successive pain in the anterior lateral shoulder occur. Excess Qi leads to hot and swollen pulses; deficiency leads to chills and worsening disease.

Song of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian:
The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian begins at the side of the nose, descends along the external nose into the lower teeth, returns to circle the mouth around Chengjiang (Chengjiang, CV24), passes behind the chin through Daying (Daying, ST5) and Jiache (Jiache, ST6), ascends to the hairline before the ear and reaches the forehead. A branch descends from Renying (Renying, ST9) to the bottom of the Que Pen. It descends through the diaphragm, enters the Stomach, and connects with the Spleen. The straight course goes from the Que Pen down to the inner breast. One branch follows the Zhongwan (Zhongwan, CV12) abdominal midline downwards, meeting Qichong (Qichong, ST30). It then proceeds from Biguan (Biguan, ST31) to the patella, and along the dorsum of the foot to the medial side of the middle toe. Another branch descends from the knee to Zusanli (Zusanli, ST36), emerges anteriorly to the lateral side of the middle toe. A third branch diverges at the foot dorsum, ending at the tip of the big toe. This meridian is abundant in both Qi and Blood. Pathological changes include yawning, blackened facial complexion, aversion to cold, fear of people, sudden startle at the sound of wood, singing while climbing high, discarding clothes and running, abdominal distension, and borborygmus. These conditions belong to Jue syndromes; diseases generated include mania and malaria. Excessive dampness causes sweating, epistaxis, cracked lips, and throat obstruction. Knee/patella pain, abdominal distension/stagnation, and pain in the Qiying, Futu, and lateral aspects occur. Pain extends through the foot dorsum and middle toe. Excess Qi leads to rapid digestion and yellow urine; deficiency leads to cold trembling in the anterior body, gastric distension, and indigestion. Excess Qi causes heat in the anterior body.

Song of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian:
The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian originates at Shaoze (Shaoze, SI1) on the ulnar side of the little finger, ascends along the lateral hand out of the ankle, along the arm bone out of the medial elbow. It ascends along the lateral arm out of the posterior lateral aspect, passes straight over the shoulder joint, winds around the scapula, crosses the shoulder, enters the Que Pen, moves towards the axilla, connects with the Heart, and follows the pharynx. It descends through the diaphragm to reach the Stomach and belongs to the Small Intestine. A branch from the Que Pen penetrates the neck and cheek, reaches the outer canthus, enters the ear, and ascends again from the ear front to the cheek. It reaches the nose, ascends to the inner canthus, crosses obliquely to the zygoma, and connects via a separate branch. This meridian is low in Qi and high in Blood. Pathological changes cause pain in the throat. Swelling under the jaw prevents turning the head; shoulder feels like being pulled, arm like being broken. Diseases generated include shoulder pain, deafness, yellow eyes, and swollen cheeks. Pain in the posterior lateral aspect of the elbow and arm occurs, requiring careful differentiation.

The straight course hangs from the vertex behind the head. It connects to the brain, emerges, descends separately to the nape, follows the shoulders alongside the spine, reaches the loins and sacrum, entering the Kidneys and Bladder internally. A branch connects with the posterior orifice. It penetrates the buttocks,斜入 (diagonally enters) Weizhong (Weizhong, BL40). Another branch separates within the arms, penetrates the scapula, passes the Pi Shu area, meets in the posterior medial buttock. It descends through the calf, posterior to the medial and lateral malleoli, below Jinggu (Jinggu, BL64), to the lateral side of the foot. This meridian is high in Blood and low in Qi. Pathological changes cause unbearable headache. Neck feels like being pulled, waist like being broken, hip joint pain penetrating the central spine. Feeling bound or torn indicates An Jue (Ankle Jue) and tendon injury. Song of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian:
The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian originates at Yongquan (Yongquan, KI1) on the sole, curves from the little toe. Below Ran Gu (Rangu, KI2) and posterior to the medial malleolus, it enters the heel, invading inward. Emerging from the medial thigh, it penetrates the spine, belongs to the Kidney, and approaches the Bladder. The straight course belongs to the Kidney, penetrates the Liver and Diaphragm, enters the Lung, follows the throat to the tongue root. Its branch from the Lung connects to the Heart internally, reaching deep into the chest. This meridian is abundant in Qi and deficient in Blood. Song of the Hand-Shaoyang Triple Energizer Meridian:
The Hand-Shaoyang Triple Energizer Meridian originates at the tip of the ring and middle fingers, between the metacarpal bones at the wrist dorsal aspect. It ascends out of the forearm between the two bones, behind the elbow lateral aspect, along the shoulder, crosses behind the Shaoyang meridian to transmit. It descends into the Que Pen, divides at Danzhong (Danzhong, CV17), scatters to connect with the Pericardium, and pierces through the diaphragm. Its branch from Danzhong and Que Pen ascends the neck, behind the ear, rotating at the ear angle. It bends down to the chin and injects into the cheek. One branch exits the ear, enters the front of the ear, crosses from Shang Guan to Qu Jia, and ends at the inner canthus. This meridian is low in Blood and high in Qi. Pathological changes cause tinnitus and throat swelling/obstruction. Diseases generated include spontaneous sweating, pain behind the ear, and outer canthus pain. Shoulder, elbow, and lateral arm pain occur; the ring and middle fingers may become useless.

Song of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian:
The Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian begins at the outer canthus, reaches the head, follows the angle down behind the ear, passing Naokong (Naokong, GB18) and Fengchi (Fengchi, GB20). It meets the Hand-Shaoyang meridian before the shoulder, crosses above the right Que Pen. A branch goes from behind the ear through the ear, exits to the front of the ear, following the outer canthus. One branch from the outer canthus goes down to Daying, merges with the Hand-Shaoyang meridian at the mandible root. Descending to Jiache and merging with the Que Pen, it enters the chest, pierces the diaphragm, and connects with the Liver. Belonging to the Gallbladder, it passes through the hypochondrium, descends to Qichong and the pubic region. Horizontally entering Bi Yan and Huantiao, the straight course goes from the Que Pen down to the axilla and chest. Passing the costal margin and Bi Yan, it emerges at the lateral knee at Yanglingquan (Yanglingquan, GB34). It passes the fibular head and anterior ankle, dividing at the foot dorsum between the fourth and fifth toes. A branch diverges from the big toe, connecting to the Liver meridian at the hair line. This meridian is abundant in Qi and deficient in Blood. Pathological changes cause bitter taste and frequent sighing. Hypochondriac pain difficult to move, dusty complexion, hot feet, and lack of luster occur. Diseases generated include headache connected to the outer canthus, Que Pen swelling/pain, and bilateral axillary pain. Scrofula and goiter arise on both sides. Sweating, chills, and malaria occur. Pain extends from the chest/hypochondrium/thigh/knee to the fibula, posterior ankle, and various joints.

Song of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian:
The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian terminates at the big toe end in the hair line. On the medial foot dorsum, it divides at Taichong (Taichong, LR3), one cun anterior to the ankle, entering Zhongfeng (Zhongfeng, LR4). Ascending the ankle, it crosses behind the Taiyin meridian, follows the medial margin to the yin thigh and Chong vessel. It circles the genitalia, reaches the lower abdomen, flanks the Stomach, belongs to the Liver, and connects with the Gallbladder. It pierces the diaphragm, spreads in the hypochondrium, flanks the throat, connects to the eye system. The pulse ascends to the vertex, meets the Du meridian and emerges. Its branch arises from the eye system. Descending to connect with the buccal mucosa and returning to the lips, another branch passes through the diaphragm to communicate with the Lung. This meridian is high in Blood and low in Qi. Pathological changes cause lower back pain and difficulty bending/straightening. Men's hernia, women's lower abdominal swelling, dusty complexion, loss of color, and dry throat occur. Diseases generated include chest fullness, vomiting, profuse diarrhea, and difficult urination.
