升麻胃风(汤),理面肿似浮;

升麻胃风汤,治疗面部浮肿似浮水状;
Some patients initially suffer from excessive bleeding, or the wound closes too early, leading to blood stasis stagnation; all these are diseases of the Blood aspect. Blood belongs to Yin and is governed by the Five Zang organs. Although the pathogen starts in the exterior, it quickly enters the interior, thus often resulting in death. It is advisable to use Yangxue Danggui Dihuang Tang (Nourish Blood Decoction with Angelica and Rehmannia), Huoshen Dan (Activate Spirit Pill), Tuoli San (Support Interior Powder), and Neituo Shixuan San (Interior Support Ten Acupoints Powder) to prevent toxin penetration. Externally apply Yujiao San (Fish Glue Powder), or use powdered rat skull bone mixed with lard from the twelfth lunar month for application; this also treats dog bites. There are also cases of broken skin exposed to water-dampness, presenting with trismus and rigidity; apply powdered Oyster Shell (Muli) externally, and simultaneously decoct Licorice Root (Gancao) to take two qian mixed with the powder.
After recovery, one must fear Qi deficiency as well; even if Wind pathogen is present, it should not be attacked directly, but rather greatly tonified to ensure smooth circulation.
If a patient has fully recovered but suddenly presents with trismus, opisthotonos, muscle spasms, and phlegm obstruction, resembling Broken-Wind disease or Stroke, it is actually due to deficiency of both Qi and Blood. After ulceration of carbuncles and sores, when pus and blood are largely lost, Yang dissipates with Yin, causing complications; only great tonification of Qi and Blood is suitable. Even if it is truly Wind pathogen affecting the collaterals, Wind-dispelling drugs should not be used. For Blood deficiency, use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Ginseng Root (Renshen) and Atractylodes Rhizome (Baizhu); for Qi deficiency, use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) without Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), adding Jiu Chao Hei Huangbai (Alcohol-fried Black Phellodendron Bark), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix), and Rougui (Cinnamon Bark), taken in large doses; for simultaneous Qi and Blood deficiency with profuse sweating, thirst, and alternating chills and fever, use Shiquan Dabu Tang (Perfect Ten Great Tonifying Decoction) added with Rougui (Cinnamon Bark), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix), and Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus); for hiccups, use Tuoli Wenzhong Tang (Support Interior and Warm the Middle Decoction). If Wind-dispelling drugs are recklessly administered, death will ensue.
(Preparation methods are all recorded in Bencao Materia Medica.)
The wind blows freely and vast, striking everywhere; the head and face are the meeting point of all Yang meridians, where Wind enters first. To dispel Wind, nothing is more important than regulating Qi and resolving phlegm.
