(One Treatise, Twenty-six Prescriptions, Two Moxibustion Methods)
The treatise states: The so-called five hemorrhoids are: one is Mu Zhi (Male Hemorrhoid), two is Pin Zhi (Female Hemorrhoid), three is Mai Zhi (Vascular Hemorrhoid), four is Chang Zhi (Intestinal Hemorrhoid), and five is Xue Zhi (Blood Hemorrhoid). Mu Zhi (Male Hemorrhoid) presents as a flesh growth resembling a mouse's teat at the anal margin, which occasionally ulcerates and discharges pus and blood. Pin Zhi (Female Hemorrhoid) presents with swelling, pain, and ulceration at the anus. Mai Zhi (Vascular Hemorrhoid) presents with ulcers at the anal margin accompanied by itching and pain. Chang Zhi (Intestinal Hemorrhoid) presents with painful nodules at the anal margin, accompanied by chills and fever upon onset. Xue Zhi (Blood Hemorrhoid) presents with clear blood in the stool, staining the clothing. Additionally, among the five hemorrhoids, there is Qi Zhi (Qi Hemorrhoid), which occurs upon exposure to cold or heat, fatigue, or dampness, and is primarily treated with Ophichthidis Cutis Coriacea (Snake Slough). For Mu Zhi (Male Hemorrhoid), where flesh grows like a mouse's teat inside the orifice and protrudes externally, interfering with defecation, Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (Turtle Shell) is used. For Pin Zhi (Female Hemorrhoid, referred to as Jiu Zhi/Wine Hemorrhoid in *Ji Yan Fang*), which rises from the orifice, swells externally, and spontaneously ulcerates after five to six days discharging pus and blood, [missing character] Pi (Bark) is used. For Chang Zhi (Intestinal Hemorrhoid), where the rectum prolapses during defecation and takes a long time to retract, Su Porci Unguis Suspensio (Swine Hoof Nail) is used. For Mai Zhi (Vascular Hemorrhoid), where clear blood flows during defecation, Apis Ceranae Fascia (Honeycomb) is used. All five aforementioned medicines should be ground and sifted equally. Based on the severity of the disease, double the amount of the principal herb so that it constitutes one-third of the total mixture. Take half a fang cun bi (a traditional measuring spoon) with well water in the morning. For severe cases, take it morning and evening, or up to four or five doses. Avoid cold environments, consumption of pork, raw fish, raw vegetables, and sexual intercourse; only consume dried white meat. One hundred days after recovery, sexual activity may resume. Additionally, when applying medication to the lower part (anus), if there is an ulcer, insert the medicine into the ulcer; if there is no ulcer, insert it into the anal orifice. Also, use Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina (Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn) burned to ash, take a Dao Gui (a small measure) amount, mix it with the medicine. After taking the medicine for five days, improvement will be seen; after twenty or thirty days, the condition will heal.
Prescription for treating the five hemorrhoids refractory to conventional medical treatment:
Qin Jiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae), Bai Zhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Hou Po (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Zi Shen (Radix Perillae), Luan Fa (Capilli Humani Carbonisatus), Zi Wan (Herba Asteris Tatarici) (each 1 liang), Lei Wan (Fructus Tetrastigomatis), Ben Cao (Rhizoma Ligustici Wallichii - text says "Ben"), Shi Nan Chong (Insectus Rhopalosiphini) (each 0.5 liang). The above thirteen ingredients are crushed, ground, and sifted together. They are decocted and mixed with Yang Sui Zhi (Medulla Candi Agni) to form pills the size of Wuzi (Wu Tong seeds). Take fifteen pills with warm water on an empty stomach, twice daily. If the condition is severe, take one dose at night. Itching at the anal margin stops after four days, pus and blood discharge ceases after eight days, and the mouse-teat-like growths completely heal. After sixty days, recurrence will not occur for life. Long-term use is beneficial. Avoid fish, pork, etc.
