[Lianzi Qingxin Yin] Treats women with heat in the Blood Sea (uterus), resulting in menstruation occurring earlier than expected and excessive menstrual flow. It also treats cases complicated by Kidney Fire, leading to continuous turbid leukorrhea, as well as blood heat in the Large Intestine causing hematochezia in both men and women.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, wine-fried), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Fuling (Poria), Diyu (Sanguisorbae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baishi Zhi (Kaolinite, quenched in vinegar), Bei Wuwei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Danpi (Moutan Cortex), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), each in equal parts.
(Jie'an Formula) Treats post-typhoid conditions where there is no hardness below the heart, no abdominal fullness, and normal urination and defecation. The body has no chills or fever, but gradually develops coma, muteness, solitary talking during sleep, red eyes, dry mouth without desire to drink water; if porridge is offered, it can be swallowed, but if not offered, there is no craving for it. The form resembles that of a drunk person. This syndrome is named Yuejing Syndrome (Transverse Channel Syndrome). (In typhoid disease, if there is no abdominal fullness and bowel/bladder functions are normal, the pathogen is not in the Fu organs. Coma, talking in sleep, lack of appetite, and a form resembling drunkenness indicate that evil heat has transmitted to the Hand Shaoyin Heart channel, where the affected Heart forces upon the Lung. Evil heat entering the interior causes red eyes and dry tongue. Evil heat in the Yin aspect causes no thirst. Since this syndrome transmits from the Foot channels to the Hand channels, it is called Yuejing.)
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Huashi (Talcum), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), decocted with Dengxincao (Junci Medullia), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus).
Chen Laizhang stated: When heat enters the Heart channel, cool it with Huanglian, Xijiao, and Shanzhi. When Heart heat forces upward onto the Lung, clear it with Huangqin, Zhimu, and Maidong, and drain it with... [text incomplete].
Treats adults and children with internal accumulation of evil heat. Profuse phlegm-saliva, tubercles in the cheeks and neck, sores on the mouth and tongue. Also suitable for general eruption of sores and boils that have already ulcerated.
Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, ground and mixed in), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jingjiesui (Schizonepetae Spica, 1 qian), Niuzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried, 2 qian), Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1 qian).
Note: This formula specifically clears heat accumulated in the Upper Jiao. It is slightly similar to Lige San, but Lige San can be taken in larger quantities, whereas this formula should only be taken temporarily.
(Jufang / Bureau Formula) Treats conditions caused by worry, thinking, depression, fever, irritability, or excessiveness in alcohol and sexual activity. Excessive Fire overacting on Metal (Lung), causing bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat, gradually developing into Xiaoke (Wasting and Thirsting syndrome), spermatorrhea, and turbid dysuria. Symptoms flare up after overexertion. Limbs feel fatigued, five-center heat (heat in palms, soles, and chest), worse at night when quiet and worse during the day. Also treats women's metrorrhagia and leukorrhea. (For those with irritability, spermatorrhea, and turbid dysuria, it indicates Heat. Heart Fire moves recklessly and cannot descend to communicate with the Kidney, causing loss of control over Yuan Jing (Essence). Overexertion leads to Laolin (Fatigue Dysuria), as exertion stirs Heart Fire. Daytime-predominant heat indicates Yang deficiency. Metrorrhagia results from damage to Wei Qi and Ren Mai, with both Qi and Blood deficient. The Classic states: "Yin deficiency with Yang pulsation is called metrorrhagia," due to Yin deficiency and hyperactive Yang forcing blood to move recklessly. Leukorrhea gets its name from the Dai Mai (Belt Vessel). Red discharge relates to Blood, white to Qi. It arises from Yin deficiency and Yang exhaustion, sinking of Ying and Wei Qi, or accumulation and downward flow of damp-phlegm and damp-heat.)
Shilianrou (Nelumbinis Semen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Fuling (Poria), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 3 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried), Digupi (Lycii Cortex), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 2 qian).
Renshen and Gancao are used to tonify Yang deficiency and drain Fire. (Li Dongyuan said: Renshen and Gancao are the holy medicines for draining fire.) They assist Qi transformation and reach the Zhou Du (Bladder).
