Gongsun (B4) pairs with Neiguan (PC6), Lieque (LU7) can resolve Zhaohai (KI6). Qianxi (GB41) and Waiguan (TE5) serve as the principal and secondary points respectively, Houxi (SI3) and Shenmai (BL62) are properly combined. Needling the left for right-sided ailments reveals upper and lower relationships; using intention to connect meridians and extensively applying massage. Tonification and sedation follow Ying-Sui (following and opposing) principles of reverse and smooth flow; the Five Gates and Eight Methods are the true standards.
For Jia (甲) and Ji (己) days during Chen (辰), Xu (戌), Chou (Chou), and Wei (Wei) hours, use nine. For Yi (乙) and Geng (庚) days during Shen (申) and You (You) hours, take nine as the period. For Ding (丁) and Ren (Ren) days during Yin (Yin) and Mao (Mao) hours, eight is achieved. For Wu (Wu) and Gui (Gui) days during Si (Si) and Wu (Wu) hours, seven is the basis. For Bing (Bing) and Xin (Xin) days during Hai (Hai) and Zi (Zi) hours, also seven numbers apply; daily Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches allow one to know this.
On Jia (甲) and Ji (己) days during Zi (Zi) and Wu (Wu) hours, nine should be used. On Yi (乙) and Geng (庚) days during Chou (Chou) and Wei (Wei) hours, there is no doubt it is eight. On Bing (Bing) and Xin (Xin) days during Yin (Yin) and Shen (Shen) hours, take seven. On Ding (Ding) and Ren (Ren) days during Mao (Mao) and You (You) hours, know six. On Wu (Wu) and Gui (Gui) days during Chen (Chen) and Xu (Xu) hours, each has five. On Si (Si) and Hai (Hai) hours, add four alone to complete them. For Yang days divide by nine, for Yin days divide by six; if there is a remainder, deduce the point accordingly.
There are two diagrams for Linggui Ba Fa (Spirit Turtle Eight Methods) and Feiteng Ba Fa (Flying Sparrow Eight Methods), and people do not know which to follow. Now, I record those that have proven effective.
Suppose it is the Jia Zi (甲子) day, Wu Chen (戊辰) hour. Calculate within the daily stems and branches. Jia yields ten, Zi yields seven. Then calculate within the hourly stems and branches: Wu yields five, Chen yields five, totaling twenty-seven. This is a Yang day, so divide by eighteen (two nines). The remainder is nine, corresponding to Lieque (LU7) in the Li (离) trigram.
Again, suppose it is the Yi Chou (乙丑) day, Ren Wu (壬午) hour. Calculate within the daily stems and branches. Yi yields nine, Chou yields ten. Then calculate within the hourly stems and branches: Ren yields six. All others follow this pattern.
(Different from the previous method.)
Ren (壬) and Jia (甲) correspond to Gongsun (B4); Bing (丙) resides on Gen (艮) corresponding to Neiguan (PC6). Wu (戊) and Wu (午) correspond to Qianxi (GB41) born in Kan (坎) water; Geng (庚) belongs to Waiguan (TE5) connected to Zhen (震). Xin (辛) corresponds to Houxi (SI3) in Xun (巺); Yi (乙) and Gui (Gui) correspond to Shenmai (BL62) transmitted to Kun (坤). Ji (己) earth corresponds to Lieque (LU7) on Nan Li (South Li); Ding (丁) resides on Zhaohai (KI6) completing Dui (兑) metal.
This method only takes the Heavenly Stem of the current hour as an example. Suppose it is a Jia or Ji day during Wu Chen (戊辰) hour, then take the Wu stem corresponding to Qianxi (GB42? Note: Text says Qianxi/GB41 but context implies specific mapping, usually GB41 is Qianxi. Wait, text says "Wu Gan Lin Qi Xue" - Wu corresponds to Qianxi in some systems or here specifically mapped. Actually, standard Feiteng maps Wu to Qianxi GB41. Let's stick to text: "take Wu stem Qianxi point"). If it is Ji Si (己巳) hour, take Lieque (LU7); if it is Geng Wu (庚午) hour, take Waiguan (TE5). All others follow this.
(I believe the methods of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians are all different. The former Linggui Ba Fa (Spirit Turtle Eight Methods) has the principles of Yang Nine and Yin Six, and the ten changes of opening and closing of the Ten Heavenly Stems; when applied at the appropriate time, there is no effect that is not swift. The latter Feiteng Ba Fa (Flying Sparrow Eight Methods) was also taught by enlightened masters, so I dare not discard it, and thus record it here to show future learners.)
