**Treatment for Postpartum Rectal Prolapse with Intestinal Abscess Symptoms**
Treating postpartum rectal prolapse (intestine protruding like a head), feeling as if needles are piercing and connecting to the anus, similar to hemorrhoid pain, with dysuria resembling strangury, and occasional chills and fever. This is caused by excessive exertion during childbirth and invasion by Yin pathogens in the intestines. Toxic qi attacking and rushing is called intestinal abscess (Chang Yong). *Correction note:* In ZiTang, use melon seeds; specifically, use Benincasa Semen (Dongguaren, winter melon seed) shelled.
- Coix Seed (Yiyiren): 4 liang
- Peach Kernel (Taoren): 3 fen
- Moutan Bark (Mudanpi): 3 fen
- Melon Seeds (Gua Zi): 1 liang

Process these into a fine powder. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 2 zhan of water until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm. Take at any time.

**Wujin San (Black Gold Powder)**
Treats all diseases after childbirth.
- Black Soybean (Xiong Heidou): 0.5 sheng
- Fresh Ginger (Shengjiang, with skin): 4 liang, sliced
- Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian): 1 liang
- Palm Fiber (Zonglupi): 6 liang

First, stir-fry the black soybeans in a pan until cooked. Then add fresh ginger and Huanglian, stir-frying together until smoke appears. Ignite the palm fiber and burn it in the pan. When the flame is about to extinguish, cover the pan upside down on the ground soil with a basin to remove fire toxicity. Leave overnight. The next day, remove and grind into powder. Add Danggui powder and Curcuma Phaeocaulis Rhizome (Peng'ezhu) powder, 1 liang each, and wheat flour (Baifan) 1 liang. Grind uniformly and seal in a container. For various postpartum diseases, mix with hot wine. For illnesses within two days, mix with decocted urine of an uncircumcised boy. For severe cases, take frequently. This formula can treat almost all postpartum conditions except atypical cold malaria, dysentery, or external injuries.

**Shunyuan San (Smooth Origin Powder)**
Add half of Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder) to facilitate labor; the effect is very miraculous.

- Aconite Root (Wutou): 2 liang
- Prepared Aconite Child Root (Fuzi): 1 liang
- Costus Root (Muxiang): 0.5 liang
- Pinellia Tuber (Tiannanxing): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Decoct 3 qian with fresh ginger, cold water, and wine (total 1 zhan) until 0.7 zhan remains. Take warm. Take at any time.

**Ganjiang Renshen Wan (Dried Ginger and Ginseng Pill)**
Treats various postpartum diseases.
- Licorice Root (Gancao): 5 liang
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 2.5 liang
- Dried Ginger (Ganjiang): 2.5 liang
- Ginseng Root (Renshen): 2.5 liang

Grind into a fine powder, mix with refined honey, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds (Wutongzi). Take 30 pills per dose with warm wine on an empty stomach, three times daily.

**Neibu Danggui Tang (Internal Tonifying Angelica Decoction)**
Treats chronic deficiency and insufficiency, abdominal pain, lower abdominal tension, shortness of breath, pain radiating from the waist and back, pulling pain in the hypochondrium and ribs, withered skin, and emaciation. Women often suffer from metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, leading to internal depletion, pale complexion, dry lips and mouth. Taking this after childbirth strengthens the body, disperses wind-cold pathogenic factors, nourishes Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), harmonizes Qi and Blood, stops pain, warms the middle, and tonifies deficiency.

Grind into a coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 2 zhan of water, 10 slices of fresh ginger, 2 broken dates, and 1 spoonful of maltose (Yitang) until 1 zhan remains. Take on an empty stomach.

**Sishen San (Four Spirits Powder)**
Treats heart and abdominal pain due to Qi and Blood disorders.
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 1 liang
- White Peony Root (Baishaoyao): 1 liang
- Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiong): 1 liang
- Dried Ginger (Ganjiang): 0.5 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose mixed with warm water. Take at any time.

**Dahuang San (Rhubarb Powder)**
Treats blood masses (Xuejia) in women, postpartum blood syncope, and various injuries involving bleeding or internal damage.
- Sheep Tibia Charcoal (Yangjing Tan): 5 liang (red-hot quenched in wine 10 times)
- Croton Seed Meat (Badourou): Boiled in starch water until yellow
- Rhubarb Root and Rhizome (Dahuang): Soaked in urine for 7 days, changing daily; wrapped in wet paper and baked

Mix and grind evenly. Take 0.5 qian per dose with 1 fen of Danggui, decocted in concentrated urine, slightly warm. For postpartum blood syncope and various diseases requiring blood evacuation, especially in severe cases, take this. If the jaw is clenched, pry open and administer.

**Xiongjiao Baizhu San (Ligusticum, Sichuan Pepper, and Atractylodes Macrocephala Powder)**
Nourishes and calms fetal Qi.
- Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu): 3 liang
- Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiong): 3 liang
- Sichuan Pepper (Jiao): 3 liang
- Oyster Shell (Muli): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with wine on an empty stomach.

**Banxia Houpo Tang (Pinellia and Magnolia Bark Decoction)**
Treats chest fullness in women, hardness below the heart, and a sensation of a lump in the throat (Plum Pit Qi) that cannot be spat out or swallowed.
- Pinellia Tuber (Banxia): 5 liang
- Poria (Fuling): 4 liang
- Magnolia Bark (Houpo): 3 liang
- Perilla Leaf (Zisuye): 2 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with 1 zhan of water, fresh ginger, and dates until 0.7 zhan remains. Strain and take warm. Take at any time.

**Fuzi Danggui Wan (Aconite and Angelica Pill)**
Treats deficiency-cold of the Blood Zang (Uterus/Blood Palace).
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 3 liang
- Peony Root (Shaoyao): 2 liang
- Prepared Aconite Child Root (Fuzi): 1 liang
- Atractalba Rhizome (Baizhu): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder, mix with vinegar-boiled wheat paste, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills with rice drink. If ineffective, increase to 50 pills. Take on an empty stomach.

**Tuanshen Ejiao Jian (Ginseng and Donkey-Hide Gelatin Decoction/Pill)**
Treats insufficient Lung Qi during pregnancy, intermingling of cold pathogens, thick sticky phlegm and saliva, and incessant coughing.
- Ginseng Root (Renshen): 1 liang
- Donkey-Hide Gelatin (Ejiao): 1 liang
- Schisandra Berry (Wuweizi): 2 liang
- Aster Root (Zewan): 2 liang

Grind into a fine powder, mix with refined honey, and form pills the size of cherries. After meals, hold one pill in the mouth and swallow with saliva.

**Ziwei San (Catalpa Powder)**
Treats amenorrhea in unmarried women, umbilical and abdominal pain, and all blood disorders.
- Catalpa Flower (Ziwei): 2 liang
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 1 liang
- Atractylodes Rhizome (Zhu): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with cold wine on an empty stomach. If walking about ten li, take another dose mixed with hot wine.

**Wuyao Wan (Lindera Pill)**
Treats pregnancy complicated by exogenous cold with internal heat, irritability, restless fetus causing wheezing and restlessness unable to lie down, and vaginal bleeding.
- Lindera Root (Wuyao): 1 liang (separately ground into fine powder)
- Kaolin (Bai'e): 3 liang
- Frankincense (Ruxiang): 0.5 liang

Mix and grind evenly. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with sugar water. Take at any time.

**Touquan San (Spring-Penetrating Powder)**
Promotes lactation.

- Pangolin Scales (Chuanshanjia)
- Leuzea Root (Loulu): Each 0.5 liang

Stir-fry the pig hoof nails and pangolin scales until scorched, then mix with Loulu and grind into powder. After meals, take 2 qian mixed with warm wine. The effect is miraculous.

**Mubiezi Tang (Madagascar Spurge Seed Decoction)**
Promotes lactation.
- Green Tangerina Peel (Qingjupi): 1 liang
- Trichosanthes Root (Gualougen): 1 liang
- Madagascar Spurge Seed (Mubiezi): 0.5 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with 1 zhan of water until 0.6 zhan remains. Strain and take warm before bed.

**Muli San (Oyster Shell Powder)**
Treats white turbidity in urine. Suitable for men, women, and children.
- Magnolia Bark (Houpo, peeled and processed with ginger): 0.5 liang
- Oyster Shell (Muli): 0.5 liang
- Atractylodes Rhizome (Baizhu): 0.5 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with rice drink on an empty stomach. Take 2-3 times daily.

**Ai Jian Wan (Mugwort Decoction Pill)**
Treats chronic deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians, cold exhaustion of the Blood Sea, umbilical and abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, limb fatigue, joint soreness, fluctuating appetite, hollow sounds in the lower organs, leukorrhea during pregnancy, sallow complexion, tasteless mouth, and chest oppression. Regular use tonifies the Blood Zang, relieves fatigue, stops pain, reduces distension, and builds muscle.
- Mugwort Leaf (Ai Qing): 5 liang
- Dried Ginger (Ganjiang): 2 liang
- Prepared Aconite Child Root (Fuzi): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder, mix with vinegar-boiled wheat paste, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills per dose with vinegar water on an empty stomach.

**Qinjiao San (Gentian Powder)**
Treats disharmony of the Zang-Fu organs in women.

Equal parts ground into coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 2 zhan of water and 100 grains of glutinous rice until 1 zhan remains. Strain and take warm on an empty stomach.

**Yubaipi San (Elm Bark Powder)**
Treats sudden heavy bleeding during pregnancy and dry fetus without movement.
- Elm Bark (Yubaipi): 3 liang
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 2 liang
- Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang): 4 liang

Grind into a coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 1 zhan of water and 3 slices of fresh ginger until 0.6 zhan remains. Strain and take warm. Take at any time.

**Dahuang Moyao Jian (Rhubarb and Myrrh Decoction/Paste)**
Treats postpartum retention of lochia, intermittent chills and fever, irritability, confusion, delirium, thirst, and red face.
- Myrrh (Moyao, separately ground): 1 liang
- Rhubarb Root and Rhizome (Dahuang): 1 liang
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 2 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Mix with 2 sheng of rice vinegar in a silver vessel over slow heat until it becomes a thick syrup. Spread cool, scrape into a porcelain jar. Keep away from moisture.

**Fuling Tang (Poria Decoction)**
Treats urinary retention during pregnancy with intermittent chills and fever.
- Red Poria (Chifuling)
- Okra Seeds (Kuizi)

Equal parts ground into coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, decoct with 2 zhan of water until 1 zhan remains. Strain and take warm. Take at any time.

**Dihuang San (Rehmannia Powder)**
Treats women with deficient Blood and Cold Qi, presenting with bluish-white complexion.
- Rehmannia Root (Dihuang): 1 liang
- Dried Ginger (Ganjiang): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with warm wine. Take at any time.

**Xifen Wan (Tin Powder Pill)**
Treats retained dead fetus in the uterus during pregnancy. Indicated when the mother has a red face and blue tongue.
- Tin Powder (Xifen): 1 qian
- Mercury (Shuiyin): 1 qian

Grind together until no mercury particles are visible. Mix with jujube flesh and form pills the size of pea seeds. Take 50 pills per dose with Epimedium Decoction (Qumai Tang).

**Ziyin Yangxue Wan (Nourish Yin and Tonify Blood Pill)**
Treats deficiency from overwork and weak Blood, dry skin, restlessness in hands and feet, joint soreness, hair loss, dull complexion, abdominal tension and pain radiating to the waist and back, internal depletion, shortness of breath, insomnia day and night, depression, palpitations, and excessive sweating.
- Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang): 1 liang
- Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui): 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder, mix with refined honey, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills per dose with rice drink. Take at any time.

**Xiong Tang (Ligusticum Decoction)**
Regulates Ying and Wei, nourishes Qi and Blood. Treats various diseases involving blood loss, emaciation, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, lack of color in face and body, palpitations, fright, irritability, sweating, chills, weakness, warming the Bao Luo (uterine vessels) during pregnancy, assisting Qi, facilitating expulsion of lochia after childbirth, and generating new Blood.

Equal parts.

Grind into a coarse powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water and a little wine until 0.7 zhan remains. Strain and take warm before meals.

**Dadou Zi Tang (Black Soybean Purple Decoction)**
Treats various postpartum diseases, wind-stroke with flaccidity/spasm, stiff back and locked jaw, only irritability/thirst, headache/heavy back, or itching with vomiting/direct gaze. Caused by wind-cold-dampness and overwork.
- Black Soybean (Dadou): 5 sheng
- Clear Wine (Qingjiu): 1 dou

Stir-fry the soybeans in an iron pan over high heat until extremely hot and smoking. Pour wine over them, strain, and take 1 sheng. Drink multiple times day and night. Finish the preparation and induce slight sweating for cure.

**Jianghuang Wan (Turmeric Pill)**
Cui Shi's treatment for leaking membranes during pregnancy.
- Turmeric Rhizome (Jianghuang): 4 liang
- Dried Ginger (Ganjiang): 2 liang

Grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi (square inch spoonful) with wine, twice daily, on an empty stomach before meals.

**Ganjiang Wan (Dried Ginger Pill)**
Treats metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with green, yellow, red, or white discharge.

Equal parts ground into fine powder, mixed with vinegar paste into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills per dose with warm wine on an empty stomach.

**Yongquan San (Surging Spring Powder)**
Promotes lactation.
- Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng): 1 liang
- Scallion White (Congbai): 20 stalks

Decoct with 1 sheng of non-fermented wine until 0.8 zhan remains. Take frequently throughout the day, finishing it in one day.

**Beiji San (Emergency Preparation Powder)**
Treats deficiency of Chong and Ren Qi and Blood, palpitations, dizziness, umbilical/abdominal pain, cold Blood Sea, leukorrhea with blood, and irregular menstruation.
- Roofsoot (Baicaoshuang): 2 liang
- Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjiesui): 2 qian

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with warm wine. Repeat shortly after for immediate effect. Take before meals.

**Ersheng San (Two Sages Powder)**
Treats postpartum blood rushing upward causing coma and unconsciousness.

- Trogopterus Dung (Wulingzhi)

Equal parts ground into fine powder. Take 1-2 qian per dose mixed with half a zhan of wine and half a zhan of uncircumcised boy's urine. Take at any time.

**Cheqianzi San (Plantago Seed Powder)**
Treats strangury with heat obstruction in the urinary pathway during pregnancy.

Equal parts ground into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water until 0.7 zhan remains. Strain and take warm. Take at any time.

**Doulin Jiu (Bean-Dripping Wine)**
Treats various winds after childbirth (also known as Zi Tang).
- Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo): 1 liang
- Black Soybean (Heidou): 0.5 sheng, stir-fried hot

Decoct Qianghuo in 1 sheng of wine for 5-6 boils. Remove Qianghuo. Pour hot wine over the fried beans, boil 3-5 times. Pour into a porcelain jar, cover with paper, remove beans, and drink warm.

**Jianzhong Dan (Strengthen Middle Elixir)**
Treats leukorrhea in unmarried women.
- Pinellia Tuber (Banxia)
- Polyporus (Zhuling): Each 1 liang, peeled and separately ground

Stir-fry together until Banxia turns yellow. Cover the Banxia with Zhuling powder on the ground, cover with a cup overnight. Remove Zhuling, keep only Banxia powder. Mix with water paste into pills the size of Sophora seeds.

**Baizhu Fuling San (Atractylodes and Poria Powder)**
Treats edema of legs and thighs during pregnancy with yellow fluid, and scanty or difficult urination.
- Atractylodes Rhizome (Baizhu)
- White Poria (Baifuling): Each 1 liang

Grind into a fine powder. Take 1-2 qian per dose mixed with Chenpi (Tangerina Peel) decoction. Take at any time.

**Shenyan Gao (Miraculous Paste)**
Treats dystocia.
- Lard from December (Layue Zhizhi): 0.5 jin
- Scallion White (Congbai): 14 stalks, chopped

Simmer together into a paste. Take one spoonful mixed with hot wine at any time.

**Congbai Ejiao San (Scallion and Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder)**
Treats persistent urgency in women.
- Donkey-Hide Gelatin (Ejiao)
- Scallion White (Congbai)
Equal parts, chopped together.

Decoct in water and take warm. Immediate effect. Take at any time.

**Method for Treating Breast Engorgement (Chui Nai)**
Postpartum breast engorgement requires urgent treatment. If pus forms under the nipple and penetrates to death, continuously apply Zaogao San (Gleditsia Powder) and Gualou San (Trichosanthes Powder), and smear Tiannanxing San (Pinellia Powder). Rub urgently with hand.

**Zaogao San (Gleditsia Powder)**
Treats pus formation under the nipple.
- Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Zaogao, burned to ash)
- Clam Shell Powder (Ge Fen)

Equal parts ground fine. Mix with hot wine (1 zi or 0.5 qian) and rub urgently with hand.

**Gualou San (Trichosanthes Powder)**
Treats heat and pain in joints and skin after childbirth; can also be taken internally.
- Trichosanthes Root Powder (Gualoumo): 1 liang
- Frankincense (Ruxiang): 1 qian

Mix and grind evenly. Take 2 qian mixed with warm wine. Take at any time.

**Tiannanxing San (Pinellia Powder)**
Treats postpartum headache and facial swelling; can also be used externally.
- Pinellia Tuber Powder (Tiannanxingmo)

Mix with warm wine and apply with a feather.

**Da Sheng San (Great Sage Powder)**
Treats unstoppable metrorrhagia unresponsive to other medicines.
- Cuttlefish Bone (Wuzheyu)

Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose. If discharge is dark/black, take with Hujiang wine. If red, take with Muzei (Equisetum) decoction.

**Dadou Jian (Black Soybean Decoction/Paste)**
Treats new or old edema in men and women, evil wind entering abdomen, postpartum exposure to clear wind entering viscera, abdominal pain like horse whip, shortness of breath, and coughing.
- Black Soybean (Dadou): 1 sheng, cleaned

Boil in 5 dou of water until 1.3 dou remains. Clarify and remove sediment. Put in pot, add 1.5 dou of good wine to the juice, simmer until 9 sheng remain. Fast overnight. Take 3 doses in the morning.

**Jingjie Tang (Schizonepeta Decoction)**
- Schizenepta Herba (Jingjie): Decoct strongly, squeeze juice, 0.5 sheng.

Take in one dose. Place strong Jingjie decoction in a basin, sit patient over it to fumigate, and wash.

**Duhuo Tang (Angelica Pubescens Decoction)**
Guiyan Zi Duhuo (Ghost Eye Purple Angelica - the largest variety; Qianghuo looks like ghost eyes. Do not use ordinary white Su Qianhu).
Amount unspecified. Grind into powder. First stir-fry black soybeans until scorched/smoking. Pour 1 zhan of wine over them. Add 1 zhan of water. Decoct medicine until 0.5-1 zhan remains. Strain and take warm.

**Puhuang San (Lygodium Spore Powder)**
Treats postpartum abdominal mass moving up and down, unbearable pain. Caused by blood accumulation during pregnancy, weak Qi after birth, incomplete lochia expulsion, new blood clashing with old blood. Commonly called "Zhen" or Blood Mass (Xuejia).
- True Lygodium Spore (Zhen Puhuang): Amount unspecified

Grind and take 2 qian with rice drink. If thirsty/dry, mix with fresh water.

**Tuxue San (Rabbit Blood Powder)**
Treats dystocia with breech presentation. Theory states violating spiritual taboos causes this, but natural dystocia and breech presentation also occur, sometimes with prolapsed intestines returning spontaneously. This is not disease-induced but Qi/Blood related. Understand this principle.
- Rabbit Blood from December (Layue Tuxue): Slice with cake, dip in paper bag, air-dry in shade.

Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose with Frankincense decoction.

**Treatment for Unbearable Postpartum Abdominal Pain**
Decoct Smilax Glabra Rhizome (Shuniangen) as a drink. One dose cures.

**Chugen Baidi San (Buckthorn Bark Powder)**
Treats chronic dysentery and childhood malnutrition dysentery unresponsive to other formulas. This formula is effective.
- Buckthorn Root Bark (Chugen Baidi): Amount unspecified. Harvest avoiding sun and wind.

Finely chop and pound into mud. Roll into small dumplings the size of jujubes, ensuring they don't break. Boil and swallow 7 pieces. Severe cases may need 7-8 doses. Take on empty stomach. Avoid greasy/hot foods.

**Dusheng San (Single Sage Powder)**
Treats unstoppable metrorrhagia in women; repeatedly effective.
- Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, removed rhizome base): Amount unspecified. Roast on fire until yellow-brown.

Grind into powder. Mix with wine-boiled wheat paste. Take on empty stomach before meals, twice daily.

**Changqi's Dalong Dan (Big Dragon Elixir)**
Treats postpartum blood stabbing, syncope, confusion, ascending stale blood, unconsciousness, child pillow pain, hard lower abdominal pain, and unbearable pain.
- Roofsoot (Baicaoshuang): Amount unspecified, sifted and ground extremely fine.

Grind into powder. Use first vinegar to make wheat paste into pills the size of marbles, coated with Cinnabar (Zhusha). Take one pill per dose. Heat until glowing, dip in vinegar, repeat heating and dipping. Dissolve in half a zhan of vinegar/water mixture.

**Po Zhu (Breaking All)**
Formulas for constipation during pregnancy.
**For Constipation and Urinary Retention During Pregnancy**
- Earthworm (Qicao, also known as Gulu Zi or Wushu): 1 piece

Grind finely, add a little Musk (Shexiang), mix with wine, take 1 qian. Take at any time.

**For Mother in Danger with Dead Fetus**
- Mercury (Shuiyin): Size of a marble

Pry open mouth and administer single ingredient. Support patient upright to allow downward movement.

Take Apricot Kernel, carve one half into the character "Ke" (Can), the other into "Chu" (Exit). Join them together and have the mother swallow. Fetus will be expelled.

**Houpo Tang (Magnolia Bark Decoction)**
Treats foul blood, lower jiao cold-fatigue, weakened Bladder and Kidney Qi, spontaneous sweating, and simultaneous urination/defecation.
Use Magnolia Bark (Houpo) 4 cun long, hand-sized. Decoct in 5 sheng of wine for 2 boils. Strain. Take Cassia Twig (Guizhi) 1 chi, grind to powder, add to wine, mix overnight, and take in one dose.
