The eruption of measles should be thorough; fine, dense, and red-radiant spots indicate a favorable prognosis. If the eruption is not thorough, one must differentiate the etiology: wind-cold, toxic heat, or qi deficiency. For wind-cold, use Shengma Gegen Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Kudzu Root Decoction) with modifications; for toxic heat, use Sanhuang Shigao Tang (Three Yellows and Gypsum Decoction); for qi deficiency, use Renshen Baidu San (Ginseng Detoxification Powder). These formulas effectively support the interior to promote the eruption of rashes.
Note: During the manifestation stage of measles, thoroughness is prized; fine, dense, and red-radiant spots after eruption are excellent. If the eruption is not thorough, the cause must be investigated. In cases of wind-cold obstruction, symptoms such as fever, absence of sweating, headache, nausea/vomiting, and pale-red yet dark rash spots will occur. Use Shengma Gegen Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Kudzu Root Decoction) added with Perilla Leaf (Ziye), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong), and Arctii Fructus (Niubangzi). In cases of toxic heat stagnation, symptoms such as facial redness, fever, delirium, irritability, thirst, and crimson-purple, stagnant, and dark rash spots will occur. Use Sanhuang Shigao Tang (Three Yellows and Gypsum Decoction). In cases where righteous qi is weak and unable to expel toxins outward, symptoms such as pale complexion, slight fever, mental fatigue, and white, non-red rash spots will occur. Treat primarily with Renshen Baidu San (Ginseng Detoxification Powder).

After three days of eruption, the rash should recede; neither too fast nor too slow ensures safety. If receding too quickly, toxins attack inward; if failing to recede when they should, treat deficient heat. For excess toxicity, use Jingfang Jiedu Tang (Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia Detoxification Decoction); externally, apply Huisu Jiu (Coriander Wine) method. For deficient heat, use Chaihu Siwu Tang (Bupleurum Four Substances Decoction); apply according to syndrome, and the disease will gradually depart.
Note: Three days after the manifestation of measles, the rash should gradually fade. Neither rapid nor slow fading indicates health. If the rash recedes within one or two days, this is too rapid. This results from improper care, invasion by wind-cold, or contact with pathogenic filth, causing toxins to counter-attack inward. Mild cases present with irritability, thirst, delirium, and mania; severe cases present with coma, confusion, and restlessness. Urgently administer Jingfang Jiedu Tang (Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia Detoxification Decoction) internally. Externally, fumigate clothing and bedding with Huisu Jiu (Coriander Wine) to encourage the rash to re-emerge, ensuring safety. "Failing to recede when it should" refers to deficient heat lingering in the muscle layer. Symptoms include tidal fever, irritability, thirst, dry mouth, and dry throat. Do not solely use cold-cooling agents. Treat with Chaihu Siwu Tang (Bupleurum Four Substances Decoction) to harmonize the blood level, eliminate residual heat, and allow the rash to recede.
