Medical classics record the syndromes of Five Fatigues and Six Extremes, which are not comparable to Transmitted Corpse Bone Steaming. They mostly arise from failure to maintain health, starting with overexertion, violating Yin and Yang, and damaging Ying and Wei Qi, thus forming the disease of Five Fatigues and Six Extremes. Generally, exhausting effort and planning causes Liver Fatigue, corresponding to Sinew Extreme; intricate mental activity causes Heart Fatigue, corresponding to Pulse Extreme; excessive thinking due to unexpected events causes Spleen Fatigue, corresponding to Flesh Extreme; worrying about future matters causes Lung Fatigue, corresponding to Qi Extreme; maintaining moral integrity rigidly causes Kidney Fatigue, corresponding to Bone Extreme. These Five Fatigues correspond to the Five Extremes. However, Essence Extreme refers to the decline of Qi in the Zang-Fu organs, extreme exhaustion of the physical form, blurred vision, scorched teeth, falling hair, heavy body, deafness, and unsteady gait. Evil Qi rebels against the Fu organs and reverses in the Zang organs, thus forming Essence Extreme. Generally, the pulse of Extreme Fatigue is often wiry. The treatment method adjusts according to deficiency, excess, cold, and heat. For Essence Extreme, one should tonify the essence. As stated in Su Wen: "For those with insufficient form, warm them with Qi; for those with insufficient essence, tonify them with Flavor." Discuss them by respective categories.
