The nutritional intake of vegetables, fruits, and meat should be balanced. The nutritional needs of the elderly, children, and any person should be met according to their own conditions, without the need for deliberate taboos. The key lies in the method of cooking. The body is most capable of perceiving the suitability of food: if one feels comfortable or experiences discomfort after eating, this represents the body's selection or rejection of food; therefore, there is no need to taboo meat or vegetarian food.

Twenty-one. How to eat for maximum nutrition? How to eat to obtain health to the greatest extent?

Answer: What is nutrition? Any food that can be ingested is nutrition.

Nutritionists say certain foods are very nutritious and suggest eating more of them. However, if we feel disgusted by these foods and do not want to eat them, it indicates that our bodies do not need them. Regardless of how nutritious they are, we do not need to eat them.

Nutritional experts say certain foods lack nutrition, but when we see them, we crave them and feel comfortable after eating. Even if these foods are considered to have no nutrition, we still eat them because they are the nutrition our bodies require. Different personal tastes mean that each person requires different nutrition.

If one feels uncomfortable after eating certain foods, one should pay attention to the fact that these foods may cause adverse harm to physical health and refuse to eat them.

What the body takes as needed is nutrition. For the nutrition the body requires, our bodies will naturally regulate. What the body needs is nutrition; what it does not need is not nutrition. Therefore, it can be said that any food has nutrition, and also that any food has no nutrition.

Some foods taste delicious and are liked when eaten once or twice, but after a period of time, one no longer wants to eat them, or even feels disgusted upon seeing them. Finding them delicious means the body needs them; feeling disgusted means the body already has sufficient amounts and no longer needs them, resulting in a rejection response. This is a natural reaction of the body. What nutrition does the body need? The body decides itself; there is no need for us to deliberately eat more or less.

In summer, drinking a bowl of water can suffice for a meal; in winter, eating three bowls of rice can also suffice for a meal. The body adjusts the intake of required food at all times, without needing nutrition experts to specify grams of this or that nutrient or calories per meal. Do nutrition experts themselves follow their own nutritional charts?

What the body needs is naturally absorbed; what it does not need is excreted through feces and urine. The quantity of diet is naturally regulated by the body. However, the reasons why children do not eat every day and appear sallow with emaciated muscles include the following: 1. Irregular meals. Young parents allow children to consume too many snacks, beverages, and junk food during the day, leading to irregular main meals. Irregular diet leads to sallow complexion and emaciation. For such children, strict prohibition of snacks like biscuits is necessary to adjust their diet. If the child resists, let them go hungry for two or three meals until hunger naturally prompts eating. Once main meals become regular, diet naturally normalizes, and after a period, the body naturally recovers health.

2. Damage from medication, leading to inability to absorb nutrition. Many children frequently catch colds and suffer from medication damage (see "Taking Western Medicine Damages the Stomach, Actually Damaging All Zang-Fu Organs" chapter). It is necessary to diagnose where the pathology lies and repair the absorption function of the internal organs, so that diet enters the body naturally and health recovers naturally.

As long as our body is healthy, whatever we eat is nutritious. The purpose of medical treatment is to restore bodily health.

Twenty-two. Is it necessary to eat more fruit?

Answer: Fruit is very nutritious, but are the fruits we eat today providing nutrition or poison?

Peaches and plums eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival can still be eaten after a week, but after two weeks they rot and become inedible. Keeping them in the refrigerator only maintains them for a short time.

Today, fruits such as peaches, plums, apples, grapes... are displayed everywhere, looking dazzling. They remain unrotted after being displayed for one or two months, or even half a year. Many people experience stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, or diarrhea after eating them... Why abdominal pain and diarrhea? No further explanation is needed, right? This is the body eliminating unacceptable toxins—food poisoning (preservatives). We should eat nutritious fruits, choosing those in season and abundant. Non-seasonal fruits do not constitute true nutrition. For example, oranges are good fruit. Eating oranges during the peak season benefits the body greatly, and we can observe that urine becomes clear. After the peak season, if we eat many oranges, check if there is much foam in the urine. Think about it, why? The production of large amounts of foam in urine indicates that no matter how much nutrition the body has, it is insufficient to prevent loss. Just to eat fruit and absorb nutrition, we harm the body, causing nutritional loss—foamy urine. This applies to all fruits. Therefore, do not eat out-of-season fruits because they contain preservatives.

We eat many foods today, yet why do we still suffer from malnutrition? Are the foods and fruits we eat nutrition or poisons that harm the body? Have we consumed too much nutrition? What do nutritionists teach us to consume: nutrition or poison?

Twenty-three. Pregnant women should not take medicine randomly as it harms the fetus. Does Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have this taboo?

Answer: Normal people should not take medicine randomly, let alone pregnant women. However, regarding pregnancy, taking medicine is absolutely permissible without harm. The *Neijing* states: "With pathology, there is no destruction." This means that although the medicinal properties are potent, the pathology bears the effect of the medicine, and it does not harm the fetus.

For ten months while the child is in the mother's womb, if the mother is healthy, the child is healthy; if the mother is sick, the child is sick. Therefore, curing the mother's illness restores the child's health. Whatever the mother's physical condition is, the child's physical condition is the same!

It was mentioned earlier that taking TCM herbs is tonifying and has no side effects or complications; taking Western medicine is taking poison, damaging the Zang-Fu organs. Taking TCM herbs does not cause harm to the fetus, but one must note that some medicines have contraindications for inducing abortion. These contraindications are noted in materia medica as herbs forbidden for pregnant women, for physicians' reference.

Taking Western medicine is taking poison, so its harm to the fetus is self-evident (see "Taking Western Medicine Damages the Stomach, Actually Damaging All Zang-Fu Organs" chapter).

Many pregnant women today have colds and dare not take medicine when sick, causing harm to their bodies. This is a great misunderstanding of medicine. Who created this error?

The author encountered two pregnant women, six or seven months along, on one day. Both had been coughing for over two months without cure; one coughed so severely she bent forward. Both stated unanimously that the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of a certain Provincial Hospital told them the same thing: Pregnant women cannot take medicine randomly, especially not TCM, as TCM causes flat noses and deformed babies. Today's medical education is unable to solve problems itself but blames others, pushing all sins onto TCM, clearing any guilt, and causing patients to hold erroneous perceptions of TCM.

A thief cries "Stop thief!" Like fever, using antipyretics harms the person; instead of blaming drug damage, they blame excessive fever for damaging the brain. We do not know whether deformed babies are caused by TCM/herbs or Western medicine/drugs. Can TCM cause deformed babies? The side effects of Western medicine for treating diseases not only damage the stomach but also all Zang-Fu organs. Who causes deformed babies? The truth should be clear now!

A Ms. Chen suffered from infantile paralysis since childhood and underwent three surgeries. After marriage, she was pregnant twice: once the fetus died in utero at four months, and once at eight months, requiring two abortion surgeries. Five surgeries in total left her extremely weak. She sought treatment from the author for three months, regained some strength, and became pregnant again. The Obstetrics department advised her to abort immediately, citing that previous two fetuses died from fetal toxicity, and another pregnancy would result in fetal death. Ms. Chen returned to the author. The author examined her pulse and said: There is no need to abort; I will help you protect the fetus. From pregnancy to birth, Ms. Chen took one dose of herbal medicine daily. The child was born extremely healthy. Upon subsequent pregnancy, she continued taking one dose daily. She now has one son and one daughter, both extremely healthy. The notion that "pregnant women cannot take medicine" did not occur.

Twenty-four. TCM has many secret recipes and folk remedies. Why are TCM practitioners so selfish, keeping them secret and refusing to make them public for public treatment use?

Answer: Secret recipes and folk remedies are just gimmicks used by quacks to cheat money, yet they are falsely attributed to TCM.

Today's public selfishness and utilitarianism focus only on intellectual property rights claimed as one's own, whereas our ancestors had open minds, writing books on TCM to pass down to future generations. The unworthy current generation does not cherish the wisdom left by sages but insults, tramples, and humiliates ancestral TCM...

TCM books are numerous. Education and health authorities do not value them, and citizens disdain to read TCM books, yet claim TCM keeps secrets.

TCM has no folk remedies or secret recipes. Heaven and earth generate all things for human use. If you know how to use them, everywhere is a place for good medicine and elixirs. Everything is medicine and can cure diseases.

When many high officials and celebrities recover using a certain formula, the public blindly follows suit. One person cured, but how many harmed? Because constitutions differ, and disease progression and changes vary. Treating disease requires grasping the pathogenesis and prescribing medicine based on the individual, etiology, time, and location. Every prescription becomes a miraculous remedy. Yet the public blindly believes in folk/secret remedies, suffering harm instead of benefit, and attributing the sin to TCM rather than admitting deception by individuals.

The public should understand TCM medical theory, how TCM cures diseases, and how it resolves health issues. Do not fall victim to the conspiracy of "scientific doctors" who intentionally frame and distort TCM, nor be deceived by the random claims of quacks regarding folk/secret remedies. Do not attribute all sins to TCM; right and wrong should be distinct.

Twenty-five. Can TCM be used for weight loss?

Answer: Why does obesity occur? First, find the root cause: Does eating cause obesity?

Eating five bowls of rice in one meal does not cause obesity, yet drinking a mouthful of water makes one continue to gain weight. Why? Obesity is unrelated to eating; the true cause lies in the decline of Heart and Kidney function!

Women often begin to gain weight after bearing two or three children; men often begin after age forty. This is due to the initial decline of Heart and Kidney function. Many general managers and chairmen are overweight because they exhaust their mental energy, leading to Heart and Kidney decline, coupled with lack of exercise.

We often see obese people with weak hearts. Actually, heart weakness causes obesity, not obesity causing heart weakness.

Many children's obesity today is similar. Many children were treated with anti-inflammatories when young; improper use led to Heart and Kidney decline, causing childhood obesity.

Therefore, weight loss is not an issue of TCM herbs but strengthening the Heart and Kidneys so the body stops accumulating fat. Not aiming for weight loss results in natural slimming. Today's fasting diets for weight loss actually reduce health. A car requires fuel/electricity proportional to its engine size. Obesity combined with starvation causes greater heart weakness, lower physical strength, more health damage, and easier re-obesity.

Weight loss methods: (1) Consistent exercise. (2) Tonify and strengthen Heart and Kidney. (3) Maintain normal diet. (4) Do not casually use anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce "fire"; anti-inflammatories cause heart weakness, making obesity worse.

Twenty-six. How can TCM and Chinese Materia Medica be revitalized?

Answer: Today, while promoting scientific Chinese medicine (granules), 80-90% of patients say: "Doctor, give me decoctions! Do not give granules." Question: Why? Answer: TV and newspapers say TCM is mixed with Western medicine, so do not take granules. If two or three out of a hundred patients say this, we can smile it off. But if eighty or ninety out of a hundred say this, as a TCM physician, having to explain to every patient, how would you feel psychologically?

Since the Republic of China era, TCM and Chinese Materia Medica have been deliberately distorted, slandered, and blackened by certain people, intentionally attacked with the aim of making TCM disappear and perish from society. Consequently, the theoretical principles and true face of TCM are unseen and unheard by the public.

Today, the impression of TCM and Chinese Materia Medica in the public mind is completely unrecognizable. Many people, when desperate with illness, wish to see a TCM doctor and take TCM herbs, yet harbor suspicion and fear towards TCM. How can TCM and Chinese Materia Medica be revitalized?

Revitalizing TCM and Chinese Materia Medica requires rebuilding public confidence, letting the public understand the true face of TCM, its theoretical principles, and how it cures diseases. How do we remove obstacles to revitalization?

(1) Cultivation of TCM personnel:

Many teaching hospitals claim to research and develop TCM, but publish statements distorting and slandering TCM. Studying and developing TCM/Western medicine from a Western perspective is essentially stir-frying Chinese cuisine Western-style, eating Chinese food Western-style. Finally, no one knows what comes out of the wok or what it tastes like.

Without public understanding and confidence in TCM, can we ask a Western chef who doesn't know Chinese cuisine to cook Chinese food? Both are nutritious, but cooking methods and tastes are截然不同 (completely different). Thus, revitalizing and promoting TCM absolutely cannot use the Western set of methods.

For decades, the government has neglected the cultivation of TCM personnel, never implementing correct measures. Now, attempting to study and develop TCM using Western concepts will inevitably bring another health catastrophe to humanity.

Cultivating TCM personnel must start from fundamental TCM concepts, without mixing any Western theoretical concepts, to allow everyone to understand and recognize the true face of TCM. Only then is there hope for TCM revitalization.

Current measures for TCM talent cultivation—establishing public TCM universities, medical colleges, and public TCM hospitals—have unresolved issues, while repeated attempts to abolish TCM licensing exams and special exams, and schemes to eliminate TCM, persist. How can TCM be revitalized?

(2) Clarification of derogatory remarks about TCM in TV and newspapers:

Medical reports intentionally distorting and attacking TCM should be countered. The public lacks TCM knowledge and fails to understand the actual situation. Reports by "scientific doctors" intentionally distorting, slandering, and attacking TCM (such as Question 13: Can Chinese and Western medicine be unified?) must be clarified. Without clarifying one-sided Western views and letting the public understand, how can TCM be revitalized?

(3) Letting patients understand that scientific data are deceptive:

Patients willingly spend hundreds of thousands or millions of yuan under Western medicine, dying without complaint, saying, "Such science couldn't cure it, it's fate!" "Spending so much money and still not cured, it's fate!" Yet they are unwilling to spend ten or twenty thousand yuan on TCM treatment, and even when cured by TCM, they still believe TCM is unscientific. This mindset often chokes one with anger. Why?

We often encounter patients with severe conditions who received ineffective Western treatments for months or years. When seeking TCM, after taking only one packet of powder or finishing one decoction, or even with minor changes in condition, patients lose confidence, saying, "TCM/Chinese herbs are ineffective," abandoning TCM treatment to return to Western control. This is because patients approach TCM with suspicion or a "try-and-see" attitude, lacking any confidence.

Elixirs require three doses. Can one dose or sip of TCM reverse a severe condition? Why do patients trust the "science" of Western medicine when it fails, but not the "science" of TCM?

Curing people is science; killing people is "more scientific." The idea that TCM curing people is unscientific and lacks scientific basis, when will this be corrected? Only by making patients understand that among scientific data, only the Top Ten Death Rankings are real; other scientific data are deceptive (see "Why Are There So Many Incurable Diseases?" chapter).

(4) Timely correction of unreasonable demands by patients towards TCM.

When Western medicine treats cancer patients for months, half a year, or a year, and tells families the patient has only two months or two weeks to live, leading them to seek TCM treatment, the three phrases often heard are:

1. Doctor! How long until cured?
2. Doctor! How many doses until cured?
3. Doctor! How much money to cure?

Many patients arrogantly say: "We don't care about cost for treatment. Public/Labor/Agricultural insurance doesn't cover your TCM, so how much money to cure!" They do not ask how to save the patient!

The payer is the boss. With Western medicine, one fills out forms, gives fingerprints; if one dies without paying, the body isn't released. Western medicine gives patients only two months or two weeks to live, yet expects TCM to say how quickly, how cheaply, and in how many doses they can be cured.
