Kuanhua (Flos Dendranthemi Morifolii) Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis) Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) Zhimu (Radix Anemarrhenae) (each seven qian half) Beimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae, stir-fried, core removed) Ejiao (Colum Corii Asini, stir-fried) Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae) (each three qian) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae).
If the lung abscess has already ruptured, it is incurable; use Taiyi Gao (Great One Plaster) formed into pills to take orally. To contract the wound opening, only drinking the decoction of Hehuan Pi (Cortex Albiziae) is effective. (Note: This refers to Yehe Hua [Night-closing Flower].) Mai Jue (Pulse Aphorisms) states: If the cun pulse is rapid and excess, the lung abscess is established; if the cun pulse is rapid, deficient, and choppy, it is the sign of lung flaccidity. Lung abscess presents with white complexion, and the pulse should be short and choppy; if floating and large, death ensues; if the complexion is not white but red... (Correction: Hehuan refers to the Silk Tree [Albizia julibrissin], produced in Henan, often planted in courtyards. Its leaves resemble those of the locust tree, its wood resembles paulownia, and its branches are soft and intertwine. It is not the Night-closing Flower.)
Treats lung abscess, coughing up pus and blood, excessive thirst in the throat, red and scanty urination and defecation.
