To treat diarrhea caused by summerheat-dampness, as well as dysentery in adults and children, it is highly effective. By adding Hongqu (Red Yeast Rice) to make pills, it treats red dysentery. By removing Hongqu and adding Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), and using Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice) to coat the pills, it treats vomiting and diarrhea resembling Huoluan (Cholera-like syndrome). See the section on Summerheat Stroke for this formula.
Another prescription: To treat sudden, continuous severe diarrhea accompanied by urinary retention. Use Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed), stir-fried and ground into powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with rice water; alternatively, the root of Plantago can be crushed to extract juice for oral administration to stop diarrhea.
To treat Spleen-Stomach Qi Deficiency, manifesting as anorexia, borborygmus, abdominal pain, uncontrolled diarrhea, yellow urine, and weakness/fatigue of the four limbs.
