Treats hematochezia (blood in stool) accompanied by abdominal pain, which is termed "Heat-Toxin" (Re Du).
Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 2.5 qian), Danzhuyez (Lophatheri Herba), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1 qian). If abdominal pain is severe, mix with Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) powder and take.
Treats hematochezia without abdominal pain, which is termed "Damp-Toxin Lower Bleeding" (Shi Du Xia Xue).
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1.5 qian). Decoct in water and take on an empty stomach.
Treats dampness in the intestines and stomach causing distension and fullness, with lower bleeding.
Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Nongpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus) (each 1 liang), Huaihua (Sophorae Flos, stir-fried, 2 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Wumei (Mume Fructus) (each 0.5 liang). Add two zhong of water, decoct to one zhong, and take warm on an empty stomach.
Treats Changpi (dysentery-like condition) with lower bleeding, and Damp-Toxin Lower Bleeding.
Huaihua (Sophorae Flos), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) (each 6 qian), Guishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 2 qian), Jingjiesui (Schizonepetae Spica), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 6 fen), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (4 fen).
Treats Changpi with lower bleeding presenting as a jet stream; the blood spurts out with force and shoots far, scattering like a sieve. This often occurs downward in the second month of spring, with severe abdominal pain. This is caused by Qi rushing in the Yangming channel and Heat-Toxin. One should eliminate Damp-Toxin and harmonize the Blood to achieve recovery.
Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw) (each 5 fen), Shu Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 1 qian), Guishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) (each 3 fen), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (each 7 fen), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (1.5 qian). Combine as one dose, add four zhong of water, decoct to two zhong, and divide into two doses for administration.
Another prescription: Add Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) and Diyü (Sanguisorbae Radix).
Treats conditions where improper diet and irregular daily life cause Yin channels to be affected. When Yin is affected, pathogens enter the Five Zang organs. If they fill and obstruct the Zang organs, it manifests downward as Sundxie (undigested food in stool); prolonged, it becomes Changpi, where water, grain, and blood are expelled separately in a jetting manner. At this time, summer arrives with excessive Damp-Heat, when pathogenic Qi (Ke Qi) is strong and host Qi (Zhu Qi) is weak. Thus, the symptoms of Changpi are severe, and this formula governs them.
Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Huaihua (Sophorae Flos, stir-fried) (each 5 fen), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, de-haired, stir-fried), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried) (each 1 qian). Combine as one dose, decoct in water and take. If there is astringency in urination, oppression below the umbilicus, or a sensation of heaviness after defecation, mix with Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Binglang (Arecae Semen) powder (each 5 fen) and take on an empty stomach.
