After childbirth, rising and moving too early causes the vaginal opening to be invaded by wind pathogen, resulting in pain where clothing and bedding cannot touch the body. It is advisable to use Qufeng Dongtong Decoction (Wind-Dispersing Pain-Calming Decoction).
Chuanxiong Rhizome (Qian), Danggui Radix (San Qian), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Fangfeng Radix Saposhnikoviae, Rougui Cortex Cinnamomi, Jingjie Fructus Schizonepetae (each Wu Fen, stir-fried until black), Fuling Poria, Dihuang Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Liang Qian).
Two Jujubae Fructus (Da Zao), decocted and taken orally.
Additionally, it addresses Yingang (vulvar ulceration) and Yinshi (vulvar erosion). Sores within the vagina are called "chuang" (sores), presenting with pain or itching, feeling like insects crawling, with dripping purulent discharge. If vulvar erosion is severe and nearly destroys the tissue, it is caused by mental restlessness and depression of the Heart and Kidney, combined with weak Stomach Qi, leading to stagnation of Qi and Blood. The Classic states: "All sores and itching belong to the Heart." Treatment should tonify the Heart and nourish the Kidney, with external herbal fumigation and washing. It is advisable to use Shiquan Yingan San (Ten-Ingredient Complete Vulvar Ulcer Powder).
Chuanxiong Rhizome, Danggui Radix, Baishao Radix Paeoniae Alba, Diyu Sanguisorbae Radix, Gancao Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (equal parts).
Five bowls of water, decocted to two bowls. Remove dregs for fumigation. Apply three times daily and four times at night; fumigate first, then wash.
Another prescription uses Pulvis Pteridis Mollis (Puhuang) one sheng, and Hydrargyrum (Shuiyin) two liang. Mix these two ingredients evenly and apply topically.
Another prescription uses Bufo (Toad) and Leporis Faeces (Tufen) ground into powder in equal parts, applied to the sores.
Another prescription treats gan worms eating the lower part and five zang organs. Take peach branches from the southeast, gently beat the head to disperse it, and wrap it with cotton.
Another prescription uses Pulvis Sulphuris Rubrum (Shiliuhuang). Bind the peach branch, dip it in the powder, and smoke the area (Note: This item should be read together with the previous one).
Another prescription involves cutting a short bamboo tube, inserting it into the vagina first, and smoking with burning peach branches.
Rhyme Prescription: Qufeng Dongtong treats vulvar pain, using Du Huo, Rougui, and Chuanxiong.
Danggui, Dihuang, stir-fried Jingjie, Da Zao, Fangfeng, and Fuling.
Shiquan Yingan San treats vulvar sores, an external formula for fumigating first and washing later.
Danggui, Baishao, Chuanxiong, Diyu, and Gancao eliminate pain and itching day and night.
If this is due to dirty blood wrapped around the infant, and lochia flows down during delivery, the abdomen will not hurt and delivery will be safe. If the abdomen lacks warmth, or if cold food is ingested, causing lochia to coagulate into clumps that do not dissipate over time, various deficiency syndromes will emerge; such as fever resembling bone-steaming, reduced appetite and emaciation; or heat in the five centers (palms, soles, and chest), amenorrhea, masses in the hypochondrium that make rumbling sounds when moved, epigastric discomfort, dizziness, and fever resembling malaria, coming and going intermittently. For such symptoms, if the physician wishes to drain the pathogen, they must first tonify the deficiency. One must use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) to deliver Sanxiao Wan (Three-Reduction Pill), so that Yuan Qi (Original Qi) is not damaged and lochia can be eliminated.
Modified Buzhong Yiqi Decoction

Grind the above into powder, form pills with steamed wheat cake dough. Take after meals, delivered with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (50-60 pills); or alternatively, use Baizhu (San Qian), Chenpi (Wu Qian), one cup of water, decocted to a small amount for delivery.
Marginal Note: This formula is for postpartum food injury and incomplete lochia discharge. If lochia does not flow immediately after initial delivery, it is advisable to take Shenghua Tang (Generate the New Decoction) plus Shan Zha Tan (Charred Hawthorn) three qian. One dose daily, taken for four doses for excellent results.
Rhyme Prescription: Failure of lochia discharge generates various symptoms, reduced food intake, emaciation, and bone-steaming appear.
