[Liuhe San (Six-Harmony Powder)]
Cortex Broussonetiae Papyriferae (Chugenbaipi), Cortex Toosendanii (Xiangchun Gen Baipi), Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen), Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu, stir-fried with vinegar), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi Ren, stir-fried), Corni Fructus (Shanzhuyu), Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex (Huangbai, stir-fried with salt and wine), Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (Guiban, de-membraned and roasted with su, each 2 liang), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang, stir-fried, 5 qian), Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus (Beimu, heart removed, 1 liang), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, stir-fried), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, washed with wine, each 1.5 liang), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishaoyao, stir-fried with wine, 2 liang).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder, mix with rice wine paste to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 80 pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with clear rice soup. For pregnant women suffering from red and white leukorrhea, add Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Coptidis Rhizoma (Chuanlian), and Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) (each 1 liang); remove Zingiberis Rhizoma, Cortex Broussonetiae Papyriferae, Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, and Gardeniae Fructus; process into pills in the same manner.
This formula is effective for treating red and white leukorrhea in women, specifically alleviating severe pain below the umbilicus during menstruation after two doses.
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, 5 fen), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex (Huangbai), Hibisci Rosa-Sinensis Flos (Bai Kuihua) (each 1 qian), Pruni Semen (Yuliren, 8 fen), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 7 fen), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, white part removed, 5 fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, honey-fried), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang, stir-fried) (each 3 fen).
Decoct the above herbs in 1.5 zhong of water until reduced to 0.7 zhong; take on an empty stomach. White hibiscus flowers treat white leukorrhea, red hibiscus flowers treat red leukorrhea; if both are present, use both flowers.
Note: This formula is highly effective for conditions characterized by Qi and Blood stagnation and unclear Yin-Yang.
In cases of metrorrhagia (blood flooding) where the flow is as violent as a mountain collapse or rushing water, it is clearly due to Heat forcing blood to move recklessly. It should not be treated as a Cold syndrome. The treatment should involve clearing Heat while tonifying, combined with lifting methods. Do not attempt to stop bleeding abruptly; instead, regulate gradually so that when the blood clears, it naturally returns to its source.
Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingsui), Viticis Fructus (Manjingzi) (each 7 fen), Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex (Huangbai), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu), Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix (Ben), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Leonuri Herba? No, Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin) (each 6 fen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng) (each 5 fen), Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Sheng Dihuang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (each 1 qian), Carthami Flos (Honghua, a small amount).
Decoct the above herbs in 1.5 zhong of water until reduced to 0.8 zhong; take slightly warm on an empty stomach, including the dregs.
For metrorrhagia that does not cease despite other treatments, this formula stops bleeding immediately (this addresses the acute symptoms first).
Amygdalus Persicae Semen Pericarpium (Xingren Pi, charred but retaining nature), Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu, soaked in urine of a young boy for three days, stir-fried until black), Old Red Paper/Cloth (Jiu Hong, charred but retaining nature - *textual corruption noted*), Kochiae Fructus (Difuzi, stir-fried), Palm Mat (Zongjian, charred but retaining nature - *character missing in source*), Pilus Carbonisatus (Xuanyu Tan, charred hair - *text reads 'Mu Xueyu', likely variant/error for Xuanyu*), Crab Shell (Xieke, charred but retaining nature), Dried Lotus Seed Pod (Chen Lianpeng, charred but retaining nature).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with 1 zhong of juice from Oxalis corniculata (Suanjiangcao), then blended with 1 zhong of hot liquor. Take hot on an empty stomach.
Note: Upon initial administration, bleeding may temporarily increase, then gradually decrease. The color changes from purple to red, eventually ceasing. After cessation, administer Shiquan Dabu Tang (Perfect Four-Substance Decoction Plus) for twenty doses to tonify and consolidate the root.
