远志（去心泡，各七分） 北五味 桂心 陈皮（各四分
姜一片，枣二枚，水煎服。
治肺痿肺痈。久咳不止，时吐白沫，如米粥者，名曰肺痿，此火盛金伤，肺热而金化也
保和汤主之。咳嗽吐脓血，咳引胸中痛，此肺内生毒也，名曰肺痈，加味桔梗汤主之。
治肺痿。
知母（蒸，五分） 贝母（二钱） 天冬（去心） 麦冬（去心，一钱） 苡仁（五钱） 北五味（十粒） 甘
草桔梗 马兜铃 百合 阿胶（蛤粉炒成珠，各八分） 薄荷（二分
水煎，入饴糖一匙，温服。虚者，加人参。
治肺痈。
桔梗（去芦） 白芨 橘红 甜葶苈（微炒，各八分） 甘草节 贝母（各一钱五分） 苡仁 金
银花（各五钱）
水煎服。
初起，加荆芥、防风各一钱；溃后，加人参、黄 各一钱。
治咽痛音哑喉疮。夫劳症至此，乃真阴枯涸，虚阳上泛之危症，多属难起。宜用六味丸
滋肾水，而以治标之法佐之可也。
治咽痛。
百药煎（五钱） 硼砂（一钱五分） 甘草（二钱
为末。每服一钱，米饮调，食后细细咽之。
治音哑。
白蜜（一斤） 川贝母（去心，为末，一两） 款冬花（去梗为末，二两） 胡桃肉（去衣研烂，十二
上四味和匀。饭后蒸熟，不拘时，开水点服。
White Peony Root (Bai Shao) (stir-fried, 2 qian), Ginseng (Ren Shen), Astragalus Root (Huang Qi) (honey-fried), Angelica Sinensis (Dang Gui), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Bai Zhu), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang) (each 1.5 qian), Licorice Root (Gan Cao) (roasted), Poria (Fu Ling), Polygala Root (Yuan Zhi) (heart removed, soaked, each 0.7 qian), Schisandra Berry (Bei Wu Wei Zi), Cinnamon Bark (Gui Xin), Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi) (each 0.4 qian).
Add one slice of Fresh Ginger (Sheng Jiang) and two Jujubes (Da Zao), decoct in water, and take orally.
Treats Lung萎 (Fei Wei, pulmonary atrophy/withering) and Lung Abscess (Fei Yong, lung abscess). For prolonged coughing without cessation, with occasional expectoration of white froth resembling rice porridge, it is named Lung萎 (Fei Wei); this is due to excessive fire injuring metal (Lung), where Lung heat causes the metal element to transform/dissipate. Bahe Tang (Harmonizing Decoction) is the primary formula. For coughing with expectoration of pus and blood, where coughing draws pain in the chest, this is a condition of toxicity generated within the Lung, named Lung Abscess (Fei Yong); Jiawei Jiegeng Tang (Modified Platycodon Decoction) is the primary formula.
Treats Lung萎 (Fei Wei).
Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhi Mu) (steamed, 0.5 qian), Fritillaria Bulb (Bei Mu) (2 qian), Asparagus Tuber (Tian Dong) (heart removed), Ophiopogon Tuber (Mai Dong) (heart removed, 1 qian), Coix Seed (Yi Yi Ren) (5 qian), Schisandra Berry (Bei Wu Wei Zi) (10 grains), Licorice Root (Gan Cao), Platycodon Root (Jie Geng), Aristolochia Root (Ma Dou Ling), Lily Bulb (Bai He), Donkey-hide Gelatin (E Jiao) (fried with clam powder into beads, each 0.8 qian), Mint (Bo He) (0.2 qian).
Decoct in water, add one spoonful of Malt Sugar (Yi Tang), and take warm. For deficiency cases, add Ginseng (Ren Shen).
Treats Lung Abscess (Fei Yong).
Platycodon Root (Jie Geng) (radicle removed), Bletilla Tuber (Bai Ji), Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae (Ju Hong), Thladiantha Fruit (Ting Li Zi) (lightly fried, each 0.8 qian), Licorice Knots (Gan Cao Jie), Fritillaria Bulb (Bei Mu) (each 1.5 qian), Coix Seed (Yi Yi Ren), Honeysuckle Flower (Jin Yin Hua) (each 5 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
In the initial stage, add Schizonepeta Spike (Jing Jie) and Saposhnikovia Root (Fang Feng), each 1 qian; after ulceration, add Ginseng (Ren Shen) and Astragalus Root (Huang Qi), each 1 qian.
Treats Sore Throat (Yan Tong), Hoarseness (Yin Ya), and Throat Ulcers (Hou Chuang). When consumptive diseases reach this stage, it is a critical condition of true Yin exhaustion and floating deficient Yang, mostly difficult to recover from. It is advisable to use Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) to nourish Kidney Water, assisted by methods for treating the branch symptoms.
Treats Sore Throat (Yan Tong).
Fermented Medicated Leaven (Bai Yao Jian) (5 qian), Borax (Peng Sha), Licorice Root (Gan Cao) (2 qian).
Grind into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mix with rice drink, and swallow slowly after meals.
Treats Hoarseness (Yin Ya).
White Honey (Bai Mi) (1 jin), Sichuan Fritillaria Bulb (Chuan Bei Mu) (heart removed, ground into powder, 1 liang), Winter Flower Bud (Kuan Dong Hua) (stalks removed, ground into powder, 2 liang), Walnut Kernel (Hu Tao Rou) (skin removed, pounded until soft, 12 pieces).
Mix the above four ingredients evenly. Steam until cooked after meals, and take at any time with boiled water.
