[Outline of Panting and Shortness of Breath] The emergence of panting is caused by Wind-Cold (Wind-Cold) and Water-Fluids (Water-Fluids), and the disease also forms due to the lack of interaction between the Lung (Lung) and Kidney (Kidney). It may be excess, deficiency, or a combination of both; one must always distinguish clearly during clinical practice.
Xiao Qing Long Tang (Minor Blue Dragon Decoction) Syndrome
(See formula in Shanghan Lun) When external contraction of Wind-Cold cannot be resolved, excess panting arises with Qi rushing upward. What medicine should be used to treat this syndrome? The miraculous formula is solely Xiao Qing Long Tang.
She Gan Ma Huang Tang (Belamcanda and Ephedra Decoction)
(Syndrome attached) During real panting caused by external contraction of Wind-Cold, treatment should employ Zi Wan (Asteris Radix) and Kuan Dong Hua (Farflos Flos), combined with Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba), She Gan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma). Unblocking the exterior and interior yields extraordinary efficacy.
Jiang Ling Ban Xia Tang (Ginger, Poria, and Pinellia Decoction) Syndrome
(See formula in Tan Yin) When Water-Fluids stagnate with rampant momentum, brewing into excess panting causing physical unrest, what medicine is needed to dispel Cold-Dampness? One should use Jiang Ling Ban Xia Tang.
Xiao Ban Xia Jia Fu Ling Tang (Minor Pinellia Decoction plus Poria)
(Syndrome attached) If excess panting is due to the stagnation of Water-Fluids, Sheng Jiang promotes Qi movement and unblocks meridians, while Ban Xia is particularly excellent for descending rebellious Qi. To remove dampness, it is advisable to add Fu Ling (Poria).
Zhen Wu Tang (True Warrior Decoction) Syndrome
(See formula in Shanghan Lun) When encountering deficiency panting, careful examination is required. Lack of interaction between Lung and Kidney leads to water transforming into Phlegm (Phlegm). Zhen Wu Tang decocted can originally treat this; who comprehends the essence of the formula?
Liu Jun Zi Tang Modified Syndrome
(See formula in Nue Ji) Half-excess half-deficiency with Cold-Dampness causes persistent panting and discomfort. Using Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) is truly miraculous; adding Sheng Jiang makes treatment not difficult.
Mai Men Dong Tang (Ophiopogon Decoction) Syndrome
(See formula in Ke Sou) Half-excess half-deficiency with Fire (Fire) rebelling upwards, the condition worsens with panting and inability to exert strength. Using Mai Men Dong Tang is truly miraculous; combining tonification and purgation is the superior method.
[Outline of Asthma] Fluids remaining in the Lung condense with Cold, blocking the airways and making breathing difficult. This disease has formed an asthma syndrome; treatment should employ Sheng Ji She Gan Wan (Shengji Belamcanda Pill).
Sheng Ji She Gan Wan
Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina) accompanies Yu Li Ren (Prunus japonica Seed); She Gan and Bei Mu (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus) are combined with Fu Ling and Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). Additionally, Bai Bu (Stemonae Radix) is added along with Sheng Jiang and Ban Xia, while Wu Wei Zi and Kuan Dong Hua are combined with Xi Xin.
[Outline of Lung Abscess] Internal Heat (Heat) stagnates and steams, compounded by external contraction. Panting and coughing increase significantly. Dry mouth and throat are not due to thirst; drinking slightly causes immediate alarm as fluids boil.
Su Ye Ju Gan Jie Tang (Perilla Leaf, Tangerine Peel, Licorice, and Platycodon Decoction)
(Syndrome attached) Su Ye (Perillae Folium), Xing Ren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Sheng Jiang, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Ju Pi are combined together. Fu Ling, Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), and Bei Mu must also be applied. For early-stage Lung Abscess (Lung Abscess), this should be taken first; removing dampness and dispelling Wind is most suitable.
Er Bai San (Two Whites Powder)
(Syndrome attached) Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus) is peeled and pounded into a paste, then ground together with Jie Geng and Bei Mu. Mixing this powder and decocting it for drinking is appropriate when pus forms in the Lung, facilitating expectoration and purgation.
Ting Li Da Zao Xie Fei Tang (Descurainia Seed and Jujube Decoction to Drain the Lung)
(Syndrome attached) First decoct a Jujube (Ziziphi Jujubae Fructus) soup with water. Separately, decoct Ting Li Zi (Descurainiae Semen) in one cup. After a disease manifests in the Lung forming an abscess, draining all purulent sputum is the miraculous method.
