Treatment of malaria in children generally follows the same methods as for adults, with sweating being the sign of recovery. It is appropriate to use herbs such as Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix). Furthermore, one must flexibly adjust the treatment based on whether the disease is caused by food stagnation or phlegm-fluid retention. Generally, it is mostly due to irregular diet, so resolving food stagnation and promoting digestion should be the primary therapeutic method.
[Shi] Wanjindan: Treats malaria in both adults and children accompanied by asthma, with excessive phlegm-saliva and urgent panting.
Take 49 Black Bean seeds (Sojae Semen Nigrum) and 1 qian (approx. 3.7g) of Xingshi (Realgar mixed with arsenic compounds). First, soak the black beans and remove their skins. On the Dragon Boat Festival day, grind them finely in a mortar, mix well, and form into small pills. Coat with Huandan (Minii Oxidum), and dry in the shade. For treating cold-type asthma, swallow one pill with clear tea water; for treating malaria, swallow one pill on an empty stomach with well water (Jinghua Shui). Avoid hot foods, meat, and fish for one month. Vomiting will occur if hot foods are consumed.
[Tang] Formula for Dan Malaria (Malaria characterized by heat without chills): Use Huandan (Minii Oxidum), heated until red-hot, and take with honey water before onset; if the patient can drink alcohol, use wine instead. Another method involves exclusively administering Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), followed by Renshen Qianhu Tang (Ginseng and Peucedani Decoction).
Caoguo Yin (Tsaoko Decoction): Treats cases where cold predominates over heat, with cold extremities, generalized edema, and abdominal pain.

Equal parts. Coarsely crush, decoct with half wine and half vinegar, leave exposed to dew overnight. The next morning, re-warm the liquid, filter out the dregs, and take. This was effective for the chronic malaria of Chen Sheren's son.

If wiry, small, and tight, purgation is indicated. If wiry and slow, warming is indicated. If wiry and tight, sweating is indicated. If floating and large, emesis is indicated. A wiry and rapid pulse indicates wind-induced heat, which should be managed through dietary adjustments.
[Mai Jing] The pulse of malaria is naturally wiry. If slightly wiry, it indicates deficiency. If choppy and scattered, it indicates death.
