Translation:
Article: Lu-lu Zhuan-guan (Pulley-like Rotating Eye) is caused by an excess of wind-pathogen in the Liver Meridian, resulting in the eyeballs rotating不定ly, similar to a pulley. Mild cases present with strabismus (deviation of the pupil), while severe cases present with the pupil turning backward. In the initial stage, Gouteng Yin (Uncaria Decoction) should be used, which contains Quanxie (Scorpion), Chuanxiong, Renshen (Ginseng), Fangfeng, Mahuang, Tianma, Jiangcan, and Gancao. Later, Tiandong Yin (Asparagus Decoction) should be taken, which contains Qianghuo, Tiandong, Wuweizi, Renshen, Zhimu, Chongweizi, and Fangfeng.
Formula: Gouteng Yin (Uncaria Decoction)
Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) 5 fen; Quanxie (Scorpio, processed to remove toxicity) 1 qian; Chuanxiong (Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), and Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) each 7 fen; Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) 3 fen; Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) 7 fen; Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, processed) 1.2 qian; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried) 3 fen.
Grind the above into coarse powder. Add two cups of water, decoct until one cup remains, strain, and take at any time.
Tiandong Yin (Asparagus Decoction)
Chifu Ling (Poria with Red Hosta Root) and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) each 7 fen; Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) 7 fen; Tiandong (Asparagi Radix) 1 qian; Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) 5 fen; Renshen (Ginseng Radix) 7 fen; Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) 1 qian; Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus) 1 qian; Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) 5 fen.
Grind the above into coarse powder. Add two cups of water, decoct until one cup remains, strain after meals, and take warm.
Note [1]: The condition of Lu-lu Zhuan-guan is due to the accumulation and excess of wind-pathogen in the Liver Meridian, causing the eyeballs in both eyes to rotate不定ly, resembling a pulley. Mild cases involve deviation of the pupil, while severe cases involve the pupil turning backward.
Note [2]: In the initial stage, Gouteng Yin is suitable to disperse wind-pathogen; once stabilized, Tiandong Yin is used for regulation, leading to recovery.
Article: Xie-jing (Crab Pupil) presents with the black part of the eye protruding like a bead, resembling a crab's eye. It is characterized by extreme pain, dryness, tearing, and photophobia. This is caused by accumulated heat in the Liver and Gallbladder and deficiency-heat in the Kidney. Deficiency types are soft and painless, while excess types are hard and painful.
For excess types, Xiegan Tang (Liver-Purging Decoction) is indicated, containing Cheqianzi, Dihuang, Digupi, Mangxiao, Dahuang, Zhi mu, Heishen, Chaihu, and Chongweizi. For deficiency types, Zhen Shen Wan (Kidney-Calming Pill) is indicated, containing Wuweizi, Zhimu, Dihuang, Shanyao, Tusizi, Xixin, Shijueming, and Lingzhi (Note: Text says "Ling", Formula says "Shijueming". Based on formula, entity is Shijueming).
Formula: Xiegan Tang (Liver-Purging Decoction)
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Digupi (Daphnes Cortex), and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) each 1 qian; Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) each 1.5 qian; Heishen (Polygonati Rhizoma, blackened) 1 qian; Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) 2 qian; Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus) 2 qian.
Grind the above into coarse powder. Add two cups of water, decoct until 0.8 cup remains, strain, and take warm on an empty stomach.
Zhen Shen Jueming Wan (Kidney-Calming and Vision-Clarifying Pill)
Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) 0.5 liang; Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, processed), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), and Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, fried) each 1.5 liang; Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) 1 liang; Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 liang; Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha) 1 liang.
Grind the above into fine powder. Make pills using refined honey, size of wu-tong seeds. Take 3 qian with clear tea on an empty stomach.
Note [1]: The condition of Xie-jing involves the black part of the eye protruding like a bead, resembling a crab's eye, with extreme pain, dryness, tearing, and photophobia. Initially, it is an excess type, hard and extremely painful; after a long time, it becomes a deficiency type, soft and painless.
Note [2]: The root cause is generally accumulated heat in the Liver and Gallbladder rushing up to the eyes, and deficiency-heat in the Kidney affecting the eyes.
Note [3]: Excess types should use Xiegan Tang, while deficiency types should use Zhen Shen Jueming Wan.
