虫无湿不生,观腐草为萤可知也。杀虫之中兼燥湿利湿之法,非深达本源者能之乎?
Bai Zi Ren (Cacumen Platycladi, stir-fried and ground, oil removed) 2 liang, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Muli (Ostreae Concha), Mahuang Gen (Ephedrae Radix et Rhizoma) each 1 liang, Maifu (Wheat Bran) 5 qian.
Made into pills with jujube flesh, taken with rice water, 50 pills per dose, three times daily.
This formula nourishes the Yin of the Heart and consolidates the exterior of the body, thus it can tonify deficiency and stop sweating.
Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) 10 liang, Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) 8 liang, Shilian Rou (Lotus Plumule), Baifuling (Poria) 3 liang, Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) 6 liang.
Soak Tusizi in wine; use the remaining wine after soaking to cook Shanyao into a paste for making pills.
This is also a mild formula for tonifying the Kidney and astringing essence, suitable for those with Kidney Qi deficiency and cold. If there is fire, Tusizi should be酌情 (discretionarily) replaced.
Lianxu (Stamen Nelumbinis), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 2 liang, Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Yizhiren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Semen), Sharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, processed with ginger juice), Fuling (Poria) 1 liang, Zhuling (Polyporus) 2 liang, Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried) 3 liang.
It embodies astringency within draining, which is very clever. If damp-heat is not removed, turbidity will never cease; using only astringent drugs would instead cause ruined essence to block orifices.
Jinying Gao (Extract of Rosa laevigata) 1 jin, Qianshi (Euryales Semen) 1 jin (steamed and powdered).
Mixed to make pills.
It can also astringe essence and consolidate Qi, but its strength is very weak, so additional ingredients are needed.
Shayuan Jili (Astragali Complanati Semen, stir-fried), Qianshi (Euryales Semen, steamed), Lianxu (Stamen Nelumbinis) 2 liang, Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, roasted with butter), Muli (Ostreae Concha, boiled in salt water for one day and one night, powdered) 1 liang.
Made into pills using Lotus Seed Powder as a binder.
This method subdues Yang and grasps Qi; when fire does not move, the Essence Palace naturally becomes secure.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Chugen Bapi (Celastrorum Cortex, from roots growing eastward, coarse bark removed, vinegar-fried).
Ground into equal parts powder, taken with rice water or wine.
Only applicable when blood deficiency has persisted for a long time and dampness has receded. If damp-heat is still heavy, it will retain pathogenic factors and cause harm.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, salt-fried), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Oötheca, salt-fried), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae), Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, roasted with butter), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix).
Ground into equal parts powder. Take 2 qian before sleep, administered with Ginseng decoction.
This formula facilitates communication between the Heart and Kidney, clears deficient heat, and secures essence; it is the best among these formulas.
Wumei (Mume Fructus) 300 pieces, Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) 6 liang, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 1 jin, Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) 10 liang, Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 4 liang.
Soak Wumei in sour liquid (vinegar) overnight, remove pits, steam until cooked, and mix with other herbs to make honey pills.
Insects do not generate without dampness, as seen in the transformation of rotting grass into fireflies. To kill parasites while simultaneously drying dampness and promoting diuresis requires profound understanding of the root cause.
