"Zei Feng" (Robber Wind) refers to the condition where, on the day of Winter Solstice, strong cold winds blow from the south. If a person is struck by this wind, the five zang organs, four limbs, chest, heart, waist, back, and other areas will suffer unbearable pain, potentially causing harm to the body; hence it is named "Robber Wind." It is suitable to use the following prescription:
Guixin (Cinnamon Heart), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Zhuyu (Cornus Fruit), Qinjiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root), and Gancao (Licorice Root), each three liang.
Boil in five sheng of water until one and a half sheng remains. Divide into two doses and take orally, continuing until cured. Avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum), Songcai (Chinese Cabbage), and raw Cong (Scallion).
Patients suffering from this condition experience severe pain in all joints (Li Jie), which is unbearable and limits flexion and extension. This is caused by exposure to wind while pores are open and sweating after drinking alcohol. It can also result from wind-pathogen invasion due to deficiency of blood and qi. It is suitable to use:
Duhuo (Angelica Pubescens Root) and Qianghuo (Notopterygium Root) in equal parts.
Decoct with wine and take on an empty stomach.
The symptoms manifest as migrating pain that persists day and night, feeling as if the hundred joints are being gnawed. Use:
Chencu (Aged Vinegar) five sheng, and Congbai (White Part of Scallion) three sheng (chopped).
Boil the aged vinegar for several boils, add the chopped scallion white and boil for one more boil. Strain the liquid, dip a cloth into the juice, and apply hot compresses to the affected area.
Patients suffer from discomfort and bone-tendon pain in the head, neck, shoulders, back, hands, feet, waist, and limbs. Use:
Lingli Jia (Manis Pentadactyla Scale), one qian (stir-fried until yellow), and Zelan (Lycopus Lucidus Herb), three qian.
Decoct with wine and take orally.
Patients experience pain in the waist and knees preventing walking, accompanied by generalized pruritus. One may use:
Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix) and Niuxi (Achyranthes Bidentata Root), each one jin.
Soak in one sheng of wine for seven days, remove, dry in the sun, and grind into powder. Mix with jujube paste to form pills the size of a wu zi (loquat seed). Take thirty to fifty pills per dose on an empty stomach with wine.
At the onset of this disease, there is soreness and pain below the knees, gradually progressing to swelling of the knee caps and emaciation of the thigh tendons. The etiology is kidney deficiency. One may use:
Fresh Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root).
Decoct with wine to make a paste. Take two qian of the paste daily with aged wine. Additionally, apply the paste topically to the affected area until resolved.
The palms exhibit white dead skin that is hard and dry, shedding in layers with exposed flesh, causing pain or itching, which becomes difficult to cure over time. Use:
Ge Shi (Columba Livia Domestica Excrement) and Bai Xiongji Shi (Excrement of White Rooster).
Stir-fry and grind into powder, decoct with water to wash the affected area. Strictly avoid ingestion.
During attacks, finger spasms occur, with fists contracting like chicken claws, hence the name.
Urgently apply moxibustion (three zhuang) to the Guiyan acupoints located on both sides below the patella of the left and right knees. Recovery will be immediate.
