Prepared Rehmanniae Radix (3 liang), Cinnamon Twig Decoction (Gui Zhi Tang) - *Correction: Gui Wei (Cinnamon Twig Tail)* (half liang, wine-processed), Moutan Cortex (Mu Dan Pi), Schisandrae Fructus (Wu Wei Zi), Dried Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Gan Shan Yao) (each 5 qian), Poria (Fu Ling), Alisma Rhizoma (Ze Xie) (each 2.5 qian).
Raw Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Di Huang) (4 liang, wine-processed, stir-fried), Corni Fructus (Shan Zhu Yu), Bupleuri Radix (Chai Hu) (each half liang).
Pulverize into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Coat with cinnabar prepared by water flotation. Take 50-70 pills per dose, on an empty stomach, with light salt water.
The above formula aims to strengthen the master of water (Kidney Yin) to suppress excessive yang (deficiency fire). Qi is injured by anger, causing it to scatter and fail to gather. When Qi is diseased, Blood is also diseased. The Liver requires Blood to enable vision, and the eyes are the orifice of the Heart, which governs Blood. Therefore, Prepared Rehmanniae Radix is used to tonify Blood deficiency, Cinnamon Twig Tail to move Blood, and Moutan Cortex to treat accumulated Blood stasis as the Sovereign drug; Poria harmonizes the middle and benefits true Qi, Alisma Rhizoma dispels dampness and drains pathogenic Qi, Raw Rehmanniae Radix tonifies the true Yin of Kidney Water as the Minister drug; Schisandrae Fructus tonifies the five Zang organs, Dried Dioscoreae Rhizoma regulates Qi and harmonizes the Stomach as the Assistant drug; Corni Fructus strengthens Yin and benefits essence, opening the nine orifices, Bupleuri Radix guides the medicine into the Jueyin Meridian as the Envoy drug. Honey preparations are used because they might be sticky and difficult to swallow; cinnabar coating is used to connect with the Heart. However, it must be taken concurrently with Ci Zhu Wan (Magnetite and Cinnabar Pill) from Qian Jin Fang for better efficacy.
Zi Yin Di Huang Wan: Indications are the same as above. If there is excessive eye discharge, it treats both.
Coptidis Rhizoma (Huang Lian) (1 liang), Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dang Gui Shen) (wine-processed, each half liang), Raw Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Di Huang) (wine-processed, 1.5 liang), Prepared Rehmanniae Radix (Shu Di Huang) (half liang), Schisandrae Fructus (Wu Wei Zi) (3 qian).
Ginseng Radix (Ren Shen) (2 qian), Asparagi Rhizoma (Tian Men Dong) (roasted), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhi Cao) (each 3 qian), Lycii Cortex (Di Gu Pi) (2 qian), Aurantii Fructus (Zhi Ke), Bupleuri Radix (Chai Hu) (each 3 qian).
Pulverize into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 100 pills per dose after meals with tea water, three times a day.
The above formula treats the root condition with a slow method, which means treating the root. Coptidis Rhizoma and Scutellariae Radix, with their bitter-cold nature, clear excessive pathogenic Qi as the Sovereign drug; Angelicae Sinensis Radix is acrid-warm, Raw and Prepared Rehmanniae Radices are bitter-sweet-cold, nourishing and cooling Blood as the Minister drugs; Schisandrae Fructus is sour-cold, light in texture and floating upward, gathering the scattered Shen Shui (ocular fluid); Ginseng Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata, Lycii Cortex, Asparagi Rhizoma, and Aurantii Fructus are bitter-sweet-cold, clearing heat and tonifying Qi as the Assistant drugs; Bupleuri Radix guides the action as the Envoy drug. This formula is also suitable for conditions of excessive blood loss accompanied by heat.
Fang Feng San Jie Tang: Treats fleshy growths hidden under the upper and lower eyelashes. Use manual removal first, then take this formula.

Take one dose, add two cups of water, decoct to one cup, take hot. Decoct the dregs again.
The above formula uses Saposhnikoviae Radix and Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix to raise and develop Yang Qi as the Sovereign drug; Paeoniae Radix Alba, Cinnamon Twig Tail, Carthami Flos, and Sappan Lignum break stagnation and move Blood as the Minister drugs; Poria drains pathogenic Qi, Atractylodis Rhizoma removes upper dampness, Peucedani Radix benefits the five Zang organs, Angelicae Dahuricae Radix eliminates wind pathogens, Scutellariae Radix treats heat and toxicity as the Assistant drugs; Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata harmonizes the herbs, Podagric Herb travels through the twelve meridians as the Envoy drug. For diseases of the upper eyelid, add Coptidis Rhizoma and Bupleuri Radix, as the Hand Shaoyin and Foot Jueyin meridians are affected; for diseases of the lower eyelid, add Ligustici Rhizoma (Gao Ben) and Viticis Fructus (Man Jing Zi), as the Hand Taiyang meridian is affected.
Zhu Ye Xie Jing Tang: Treats eye itching and dryness, slight discomfort, blurred vision, internal sensation like needle pricks, eye pain, and pus exuding upon pressure.
Bupleuri Radix (Chai Hu), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhi Zi), Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qiang Huo), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Sheng Ma), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhi Cao) (each 5 fen), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chi Shao Yao), Cassiae Semen (Cao Jue Ming), Poria (Fu Ling), Plantaginis Semen (Che Qian Zi) (each 4 fen), Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin) (6 fen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huang Lian), Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma (Da Huang) (each 5 fen), Fresh Bamboo Leaves (Qing Zhu Ye) (10 pieces), Alisma Rhizoma (Ze Xie) (4 fen).
Take one dose, add two cups of water, decoct to one cup, take slightly hot after meals.
The above formula is an inverse attacking method. First, use medicines that act on the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian as the Sovereign drug, such as Bupleuri Radix and Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix; the vitality of these two meridians is governed by the Spleen and Stomach, so use medicines regulating the Foot Taiyin Spleen Meridian and Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian as the Minister drug, such as Cimicifugae Rhizoma and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata; the Liver Meridian has much blood, so use medicines to unblock blood vessels and remove Liver pathogens, and the Bladder Meridian has much dampness, so use medicines to promote urination and remove Bladder dampness as the Assistant drugs, such as Paeoniae Radix Rubra, Cassiae Semen, Alisma Rhizoma, Poria, and Plantaginis Semen; to completely break accumulated heat, use medicines that attack, open, drain, and eliminate as the Envoy drug, such as Gardeniae Fructus, Scutellariae Radix, Coptidis Rhizoma, Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma, and Bamboo Leaves.
Mi Ji Jie Du Wan: Indications are the same as above.

Make pills with honey, size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, increasing to 100 pills, with tea water.
The above formula uses sweet and moistening properties to treat dryness as the Sovereign drug, as dryness is the origin of heat; Gardeniae Fructus is slightly bitter-cold, treating irritability as the Minister drug, as irritability is produced by heat; Rock Sugar is sweet, flat, and warm, calming the five Zang organs as the Assistant drug, as it detoxifies and removes pathogens; Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma is bitter-cold, moving freely without staying, draining various excess heats as the Envoy drug, to attack accumulation and prevent it from lingering unresolved.
Jue Ming Ye Ling San: Treats blurry vision at night, unable to see even with moonlight or lamplight.
Haliotidis Concha (Shi Jue Ming) (ground separately), Night Soil Sand (Ye Ming Sha) (ground separately, each 2 qian), Pig Liver (Zhu Gan) (1 liang, raw; if pork is not eaten, use white Ram Liver instead).
Mix the two medicines into a uniform powder. Cut the liver into two slices with a bamboo knife. Spread the medicine on one slice, cover with the other slice, tie tightly with hemp rope to prevent leakage. Place in a clay pot with one large bowl of rice washing water, avoiding iron contact. Boil until less than half a bowl remains. Take with the liver and juice before sleep.
The above formula uses Haliotidis Concha to calm the Kidney Meridian and benefit essence as the Sovereign drug; Ye Ming Sha raises Yang and governs night vision as the Minister drug; Rice Washing Water governs the Spleen and Stomach as the Assistant drug; combining with the Liver guides the medicine into the Liver Meridian as the Envoy drug.

Take 6 qian per dose, add three cups of water, decoct to two cups. Add Scutellariae Radix and Coptidis Rhizoma (1 qian each), decoct to one cup, strain, take slightly hot after meals.
The above formula addresses uneven Liver Wood and internal Heart Fire. Bupleuri Radix soothes the Liver, Ginseng Radix opens the Heart, Coptidis Rhizoma clears Heart Fire as the Sovereign drug; Wine-processed Angelicae Sinensis Radix nourishes the hundred vessels, Schisandrae Fructus gathers the boiling of the hundred vessels, Pericardium governs Blood, Paeoniae Radix Alba smooths blood vessels and disperses evil blood as the Minister drugs; White Poria drains Bladder dampness, Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix clears Small Intestine pathogens, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata tonifies the Triple Burner, Saposhnikoviae Radix raises Gallbladder descent as the Assistant drugs; Yin and Yang are governed by the Spleen and Stomach, Astragali Membranacei Radix tonifies Spleen and Stomach, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma strengthens Spleen and Stomach, Cimicifugae Rhizoma and Puerariae Lobatae Radix circulate through Spleen and Stomach meridians, Scutellariae Radix reduces vigorous fire, Dried Ginger enters vigorous fire as a guide as the Envoy drug.
