Decoct strongly with water.
Seventeenth day: On the seventh day, scabbing has occurred, nearing completion. However, loose stools and heavy dampness remain, posing a risk of complications. The method should focus on strengthening the Spleen and promoting diuresis.
Jiao Yuzhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma charred, 3 qian), Guangmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 qian), Fuling Kuai (Poria, 3 qian), Hezirou (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus, 1 qian), Sheng Yiren (Coicis Semen, 3 qian), Wei Roudoukou (Myristicae Semen prepared by baking, 1 qian), Guangpi Tan (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium carbonized, 8 fen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian, stir-fried with ginger), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian).

Eleventh day: Severe smallpox for one day; fever lasted one day before spots appeared. Yangming collaterals are visible; spots are confluent. Profuse sweating and loose stools indicate Qi deficiency and heavy toxin. The ninth-day stage of collapse and itching is hard to prevent. Tentatively apply methods to disperse toxin and relax the skin.
Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 3 qian), Yinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos, 5 qian), Sangye (Mori Folium, 3 qian), Danpi (Moutan Cortex, 2 qian), Ziding (Violaris Herba, 5 qian, decocted first as water substitute), Guiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail part, 8 fen), Kujiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 3 qian), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, 8 fen, ground), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Lugeng (Phragmitis Rhizoma, 5 bundles), Zhuweigao (Pig Tail Paste, 3 spoons, mixed with 2 li of Bingpian/Borneolum Syntheticum).
Twelfth day: Eruption on the second day was not smooth. For a child under three years old, there is concern about deviation from the nine-day timeline leading to internal collapse. Add to the previous formula:
Baimaogen (Imperatae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Xiluo Xijiao (Siamese Rhinoceros Horn, 1 qian).
Thirteenth day: Severe smallpox for three days; face is very red. Papules have thin shells, inverted tops, and loose roots, appearing confluent. Body eruption is pale and raised poorly. Urine is clear; stools are frequent and loose. Head is warm, feet are cold. This should be viewed as Qi deficiency failing to expel toxin outward. In short, it is the ninth-day collapse and itching syndrome. Tentatively apply blood-invigorating and apex-elevating methods, combined with Qi tonification.
Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 2 qian), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 2 qian), Honghua (Carthami Flos, 1 qian), Shanjiia (Squama Manis, 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Zaozhen (Galla Chinensis, 1 qian), Guiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail part, 1.5 qian), Yangshen (Panacis Quinquefolii Radix, 1 qian), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 1 qian), Sheng Mian Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, 3 qian), Zhuweigao (Pig Tail Paste, 3 spoons, mixed with 2 li of Bingpian/Borneolum Syntheticum).
Fourteenth day: Severe smallpox for four days; slightly better than yesterday. However, swelling cannot rise, so how can pustulation occur? For collapse and itching, tentatively elevate the apex.
Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba, 8 fen), Sheng Mian Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, 5 qian), Kujiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 2 qian), Shanjiia (Squama Manis, 1 qian), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 2 qian), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 2 qian).

Fifteenth day: Severe smallpox for five days; slightly better than yesterday. Ultimately, swelling does not rise. Face is red, body is white-gray. Head is warm, feet are cold. Extreme deficiency-cold. Tentatively use acrid-warm and sweet substances to assist Yuan Yang.
Sheng Mian Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, 5 qian), Honghua (Carthami Flos, 1.5 qian), Shanjiia (Squama Manis, 2 qian), Jiao Yuzhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma charred, 1.5 qian), Yangshen (Panacis Quinquefolii Radix, 2 qian, pounded with one slice of ginger and stir-fried until dry), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 1.5 qian), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 2 qian), Wei Roudoukou (Myristicae Semen prepared by baking, 8 fen), Gong Dingxiang (Syzygii Aromatisati Flos bud part, 5 fen), Guangmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1.5 qian), Sangye (Mori Folium, one strip, fresh juice squeezed and added), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 qian).

Decoct into a paste using rooster soup.
Eighteenth day: Eight days in, teeth grinding, diarrhea, eyes open, thin shell, no pus. All are signs of deficiency impending collapse and itching. Urgently use Chen Wenzhong's Da Yigong San method. Regrettably, insufficient strength to use Ginseng.
