*Locusta* (five specimens), known in the North as "Lala Hu," is dried by roasting and ground into powder. Take half a qian, mixed with rice water for administration. Administer one dose every two days, gradually increasing the dosage up to one qian. Efficacy is observed once urination becomes unobstructed.
Hongya Daji (Radix Rhizoma Euphorbiae Hongya, 1 liang; the Hangzhou variety is superior), Lianzhu Gansui (Radix Rhizoma Kansui, 1 liang), Yuanhua (Flos Genkwa, 1 liang, stir-fried with vinegar), Dan Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis, 1 liang 5 qian), Ku Tingli (Semen Lepidii et Descurainiae, 5 qian, ground separately).
First, grind the first four herbs into fine powder, then add the Tingli powder and mix evenly. Boil with wine to form a paste, shape into pills the size of *Cerasus pseudocerasus* seeds. Take twenty pills per dose, adjusting according to the patient's deficiency or excess condition. The decoctions used as guides should be prepared the night before for use; administer on an empty stomach at the fifth watch (approx. 3-5 AM) the next day.
On the first day, take with *Phytolaccae Radix* (Shanglu) decoction to expel yellow fluid.
On the second day, take with *Junci Medulla* (Dengxin) decoction to expel yellow fluid.
On the third day, take with *Ophiopogonis Radix* (Maidong) decoction to expel white fluid.
On the fourth day, take with four *Ciprynidae* (Tianluo, river snails) boiled in wine to expel ascitic fluid.
On the fifth day, take with three large *Cyprinus carpio* (Dajiyu, crucian carp) boiled in wine. (This aims to exhaust water accumulation from all five zang and six fu organs.)
On the sixth day, take with *Akebiae Caulis* (Mutong) decoction.
On the seventh day, take with *Gardeniae Fructus* (Zhizi) decoction; at this point, swelling subsides and distension dissipates.
Avoid salt and soy sauce, abstain from sexual intercourse, and subsequently take post-treatment conditioning medicines. Salt and soy sauce may only be consumed after the seven-day course is completed.
Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, stir-fried with soil), Yunfuling (Poria, cloud variety), Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis).
Grind equal parts of the above herbs into powder. Take one fresh crucian carp, gut it, and insert a small amount of salt and Moschus (Shexiang). Fill the fish belly with the four herb powders, roast over fire until dry, and grind into powder. Take 2-3 qian per dose, administered with *Bombyx Batryticatus* (Jiangcan) decoction.
Gong Fangsui, a student of Yuzhou Prefecture, stated: Water distension (Shuigu) results from the accumulation of cold tea and cold water within the body, overflowing into the skin. This constitutes water distension, which is not caused by external wind-cold invasion, but rather by internal spleen-stomach deficiency-cold. Only by purging the accumulated pathogens can water exit via the bowels, thereby facilitating urination and curing the disease. Tonifying medicines should only be mildly used after recovery; they must absolutely not be applied during the acute phase of the illness. This is a theory verified through repeated experience. I once suffered from this condition and treated it according to various formulas recorded in books without improvement. I encountered a wandering surgeon who instructed me to take *Leiyin Wan* (Thunder Sound Pill), from which I recovered.
