It is stated: The *Huangdi Sanbu Zhenjiu Jing* (Classic of Yellow Emperor on Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the Three Parts) records that swelling and pain in the lower abdomen, accompanied by inability to urinate, indicates pathogenic factors affecting the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), a condition named "Sanjiao Yue" (Constraint of the Triple Burner). Internal closure occurs, resulting in the inability to pass both stool and urine. The Sanjiao is the pathway for water and grain, and the beginning and end of Qi circulation. The Upper Jiao is like mist, the Middle Jiao is like fermentation, and the Lower Jiao is like a ditch. When these three circulate smoothly, Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi nourish and support the body, facilitating the rotting and ripening of food and drink, separating the clear from the turbid, and transmitting them downward in due time without stagnation. If Ying and Wei Qi are disharmonious and wind pathogens invade, the official responsible for draining (the Sanjiao) becomes constrained and blocked, leading to the inability to pass stool and urine. Acupuncture therapy should select meridians of the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) and Foot-Taiyang (Bladder), assisted by decoctions, so that the Sanjiao is unblocked, and clear and turbid substances are distinguished.
To regulate and smooth the Sanjiao, balance Qi and pulses, resolve phlegm stasis, benefit the chest and diaphragm, dispel wind, and promote bowel and bladder function. Formula for Zhike Wan (Bitter Orange Pill):
Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, stir-fried with bran, 2 liang) Qianniu Zi (Pharbitidis Semen, selected, 4.5 liang; half stir-fried, half raw, pounded and sifted to obtain 1.5 liang of powder, discard the rest) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, soaked in hot water, white pith removed, dried, 0.5 liang) Binglang (Arecae Semen, 0.5 liang, sliced) Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 fen)

Increase the number of pills if stronger purgation is desired.
