[Discussion] The condition characterized by ascending Qi (Shang Qi) and a sensation of fullness and distension in the chest and hypochondrium is caused by deficiency-cold of the Lung organ combined with excess pathogenic factors. When the Lung is invaded by cold, Lung Qi contracts and gathers, causing the lung lobes to elevate and obstructing the circulation of Qi in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner). This results in the forceful rushing of ascending Qi, leading to a feeling of stuffiness and fullness that extends to the chest and hypochondrium.
