Commentary states: The *Neijing* mentions that when a heat disease is just improving, eating meat will cause a relapse, and overeating will leave residual pathogens; these are prohibitions. This is because after a new recovery from cold damage disease (Shanghan), the Spleen and Stomach are still deficient. [Improper diet] allows pathogenic heat to take advantage of the deficiency, re-entering the meridians and collaterals, thus forming a major illness again. Hence it is called "labor relapse" (Laofu). Treatment should follow the specific syndrome manifestations, determining whether the pathogen is in the exterior or interior, and treating according to the appropriate principles.
