Discourse states: Qi belongs to Yang. When Yang Qi is insufficient, it cannot dissolve and metabolize water-fluids. If accompanied by Spleen Qi deficiency and obstruction of the Qi mechanism, accumulated fluids transform into Phlegm. The Phlegm-fluids infiltrate the Stomach and Intestines. Upwardly, it manifests as vomiting and acid regurgitation; downwardly, it presents as diarrhea and cold in the Middle Jiao. If prolonged without resolution, it leads to emaciation, shortness of breath, and difficulty with eating. In ancient times, treating Phlegm-fluids often involved harmonizing with warm herbs, precisely for this reason.
