Commentary states: Regarding Fei Nue (Lung Malaria), the *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine) records that it causes a sensation of coldness in the heart. When the cold is severe, it transforms into heat. During the intervals of fever, the patient is prone to fright and may experience visual hallucinations. Treatment involves needling points on the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. This is because the Heart and Lungs reside alone above the diaphragm, and their Qi mechanisms are interconnected; thus, when malaria pathogens invade the lungs, they internally disturb the Heart spirit, resulting in symptoms of alternating cold and heat, and susceptibility to fright.
