Commentary states: The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) discusses water diseases, stating that their root lies in the Kidney and their branch in the Lung. It also says: "The Lung governs panting and breathing; the Kidney governs edema." Currently, swelling qi obstructs and fills the chest, thus causing symptoms of fullness and urgency in the chest. This is likely because Kidney deficiency has already formed a disease of accumulated water, which attacks upward to the Lung. The Lung's distribution function is blocked, and its leaf-like structures rise to the chest and back. The back is the mansion of the chest (a region reflecting the condition of the chest).
