Commentary states: In cases where carbuncles (sores) lead to internal deficiency, the Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) Qi decompose into pus and blood. The meridians and collaterals become insufficient, resulting in a deficiency of Qi in the five Zang organs. The symptoms often manifest as deficient heat, causing the Heart Spirit to be startled and palpitate. This is because the heat from the carbuncle does not dissipate and invades when the body's resistance is weak; furthermore, the Heart alone dislikes heat, leading to unsettled palpitations.
