Discussion states: Hong Kong foot (a disease characterized mainly by swelling, pain, and numbness of the feet) presenting with pain and insensitivity or loss of sensation in the skin is due to the fact that Qi and Blood in the human body flow smoothly when warmed, but become stagnant and obstructed when encountering Cold-Damp pathogenic factors. Currently, this disease of Hong Kong foot arises because Wind-Cold-Damp-Toxic pathogens lodge within Qi and Blood, causing Wei Qi and Ying Qi to be deficient and unable to circulate freely.
