Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) and Shiyan (Halitum, 食盐), each four liang, are stir-fried until hot. They are divided into two packages using cloth. These packages are alternately applied to the patient's umbilicus and abdomen for moxibustion-like warming. This is effective. This method treats Yin-type Shasha (Yin-type Epidemic Toxin/Cholera-like syndrome, specifically referring to modern "Diao Jiao Sha" or Hanging Leg Cholera): Liuhuang (Realgar? No, Sulfur, 硫黄), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂), each two qian five fen; Paojiang (Prepared Ginger, 炮姜), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 朱砂), each two qian; Hei Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, 黑附子), five qian. [Note: The text mentions "two liang" ambiguously, likely referring to a total weight or specific proportion not fully clarified in this snippet, but the ingredients are mixed evenly]. The mixture is wrapped in cloth and placed on the umbilicus, then warmed with an iron.
Another method: Laliao Cao (Polygoni Hydropiperis Herba, 辣蓼草), eight liang, pounded into a paste; Xuan Mugua (Chaenomeles Speciosi Fructus, 宣木瓜), four liang. These two herbs are decocted with Fujhen Jiu (Fuzhen Wine, 福珍酒), two jin, plus water. While hot, wipe the hands, feet, and entire body. Recovery will follow.
Yet another method: Zhangnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 樟脑), approximately one liang per piece, wrapped well in cloth. Soak it thoroughly in wine. Wipe from the spine down to the Weilu point (Governing Vessel 4, 尾闾). After dozens of wipes, relief will occur.
For milder cases, use Shaojiu (Distilled Liquor, 烧酒) and Jiangzhi (Ginger Juice, 姜汁) to wipe the hands and feet.
This condition arises because the weather is stagnant, humid, and intensely hot, causing insomnia at night. When dawn approaches, if one exposes the body to cool winds, thread-like pathogens may enter through deficiencies. Regardless of the entry point, sudden stabbing pain covers the whole body, intensifying moment by moment until midnight. If the pathogen enters the Heart, the patient may roar and jump, with the complexion gradually turning yellow.
The treatment does not involve acupuncture or scraping. Break the mud cap off a jar used for storing liquor. Mix the mud with water to form dough balls. Roll these balls over the entire body. Upon peeling open the mud ball, thread-like substances resembling wool with a bright luster will be found, indicating that the pathogenic factor has been rolled out. The condition will naturally subside. This is considered a miraculous method. (Case note: This resembles the Wool Plague mentioned in the Epidemic section...)
Use Yan (Salt, 盐), four liang, stir-fried until hot. Wrap in silk gauze and place on the umbilicus. In Water Drum (Shui Gu, 水鼓 - ascites due to water retention), the salt will dissolve into water; in Food Stagnation Drum (Shi Gu, 食鼓), the salt turns red; in Blood Stasis Drum (Xue Gu, 血鼓), the salt turns purple; in Qi Stagnation Drum (Qi Gu, 气鼓), the salt turns black. For abdominal fullness due to Qi deficiency, saline water tests show no change; Baiyan (White Salt, 白盐) must be used for testing.
(When pressed with hand, the depression does not rise immediately indicates...)
Qingfen (Calomel, 轻粉), two qian; Badou (Crotonis Semen, 巴豆), four qian, oil removed; Sheng Liuhuang (Sulfur, 生硫黄), one qian. Grind together into a cake.
Press the medicinal cake onto the umbilicus. Secure tightly with cloth externally. After walking about five or six li, natural purging will occur. Wait for three to five bowel movements. The patient removes the medicinal cake after two days. After recovery, cold water is forbidden. This formula is miraculous for treating Water Drum. For other types of drum...
Decoct herbal medicine, pour into a basin. Sit on the basin to fumigate first. Wash the abdomen only when the liquid warms up. Urination follows accordingly.
Other types of abdominal distension can also be treated this way, though the effect is slightly slower.
Another method: Du Jili (Tribuli Fructus, 杜蒺藜) or Digupi (Lycii Cortex, 地骨皮), used according to... [Text cuts off].
To treat Water Drum with urinary obstruction (also applicable if urination is patent): Da Tianluo (Pomacea Canaliculata Shell, 大田螺), four pieces, shells removed; Dasuan (Allium Sativum Bulb, 大蒜), five cloves, skin removed; Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, 车前子), three qian, ground to powder; Conggen (Scallion Root, 根葱) [quantity implied or missing].
