Shidu Shujie (Summer-heat Toxic Boils)
This condition arises from contracting summer-heat pathogenic factors during the summer months. Large lesions are termed "Du" (Toxic), while small ones are called "Jie" (Boil). Patients present with fever, suppuration, and pain, but without the "Seven Evils" (seven signs of poor prognosis in severe sores). The appropriate treatment is Qingshu Xiangru Yin (Clear Summer-heat Aromatic Mugwort Decoction). Internally, it can be modified by adding herbs such as Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lianhua (Lotus Plumule), and Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) to achieve a cure. Externally, applying medicated plasters is advisable.
Chi Ju (Dental Spur)
A spur-like growth resembling a rooster's spur emerges above the teeth, measuring one or two cun in length. It is initially painless, but touching it causes pain radiating to the heart. This is caused by toxic accumulation in the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. It can be treated by tying it with a thread made of Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos); it will naturally fall off after two days. If the growth occurs below the teeth, it belongs to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. Medication should be selected to drain toxicity according to the meridian involved; the method of tying with thread is equally effective.
Baike Chuang (White Crust Psoriasis/Tinea)
Baike Chuang refers to Tinea (fungal skin disease), which has four types: Fengxuan (Wind Tinea), Yangmeixuan (Bayberry Tinea), Huaxuan (Flower Tinea), and Niupixuan (Cowhide Tinea). These all arise from wind-dampness pathogens invading the hair follicles. Additionally, infants may develop a type called Shinai Xuan (Wet Milk Tinea) due to consuming damp breast milk, which may eventually harbor parasites. Applying Fenshuang Zi (Calamine Residue) externally yields immediate results.
Bi Mai and Bi Zhi (Nasal Polyps and Nasal Hemorrhoids)
Both conditions result from unclear Lung Qi, causing flesh to grow inside the nasal cavity and block it, known as Bi Mai. Growths resembling cherries or goji berries are called Bi Zhi. Treatment should focus on clearing the Lungs, descending fire, and removing dampness. Externally apply patches to drain yellow exudate and eliminate the hyperplastic tissue, then treat with Kudingcha (Ilex Kudingcha) or similar herbs for immediate effect.
Qianzhi (Ingrown Nail)
Qianzhi does not arise from qi disharmony but rather from boots being too short or from kicking/crushing injuries, causing the nail to grow into the surrounding flesh. It constantly oozes fluid and is unbearably painful, resisting various treatments. Incompetent physicians often misdiagnose it as Zhigan (Digital Chancre/Gangrene), leading to ineffective medication. The nail ingrown into the flesh must be surgically trimmed by a pedicurist, followed by the application of Shengji San (Flesh-Regenerating Powder) for a cure.
Ezhangle (Goose Palm Wind/Hand Eczema)
This condition is caused by eating bayberries (Yangmei) followed by goose meat. It can also occur on the palms and dorsum of hands and feet due to exposure to dew. It results from toxic accumulation in the Heart and Kidney meridians. Treatment involves applying Xiongzhigao (Bear Fat Ointment) and using heat therapy (fire baking) no more than three times for complete recovery. It remains effective even for cases lasting over ten years.
