[Umbilical Fistula Sore]
A patient suffered from an umbilical fistula sore for half a year, with such a foul odor that it was unbearable to approach. The patient was nearly sixty years old. Due to having a young wife and failing to cherish his health, various treatments had failed. He believed he would surely die. His elderly mother cried and kowtowed, begging me for help, saying, "If you can save my son and continue the family line, mother and son will never forget your great virtue throughout their lives." I treated him internally with tonic prescriptions and externally applied moxibustion to the navel. By the next day, the odor had disappeared. Subsequently, I applied medicated plaster, filled the umbilical opening with Shengji San (Flesh-Regenerating Powder), and prescribed several doses of Buzhong Yiqi San (Tonify the Middle and Augment Qi Powder). Within half a month, the condition stabilized. Another elderly man, aged seventy-five, developed a sudden umbilical sore and fistula due to anger and frustration. After more than three months, believing himself doomed to die, he sought my treatment. I used the same method as before, and he recovered in less than half a month. This man lived until eighty-three years old before passing away. Alas, how miraculous these formulas are!
All sores, carbuncles, furuncles, and boils arise because Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) fails to flow smoothly and reverses within the muscle tissue, leading to conditions such as smallpox, sand disease, tumors, tinea, and scabies; none of these occur without this mechanism. I shall elucidate the harm caused by accidental injury from objects, clarifying that these are not caused by disharmony of Blood and Qi. Injuries vary according to the severity of the toxic influence of the object involved, and they affect life differently depending on whether the wound is large or small, superficial or deep. These facts must be known and understood. Although mentioned in various texts, their true essence and profound principles have rarely been analyzed in detail, leaving people unable to grasp their secrets. It is a pity. For instance, injuries from metal blades result in immediate life-or-death outcomes; burns from boiling water or fire, or scalds from oil, cause unbearable pain; bites from tigers or snakes, stings from bees or scorpions, and poison from insect pricks or arrows require specific knowledge passed down through transmission to enable effective rescue. Cases such as scraping out toxic sores or performing craniotomy and intestinal excavation, where survival is achieved, are undoubtedly secret transmissions of divine medical arts.
[Self-Mutilation with a Blade]
Injuries caused by blades range from severe cases involving decapitation or neck severing to minor ones resulting in flesh wounds and sores. These are all induced by intense anger and indignation, not by inherent disharmony of Blood and Qi. Internally, one should administer Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment Qi Decoction) combined with herbs for pain relief, such as Ru Xiang (Olibanum, Frankincense) and Mo Yao (Myrrha, Myrrh). Externally, wash the wound with Sanqi Tang (Notoginseng Decoction); the bleeding will stop spontaneously. Applying topical medicine for blade wounds will lead to recovery. This approach aims to stop bleeding and relieve pain; it is distinct from procedures related to castration. The formula is presented later.
