Ganzhu Ointment: Treats all kinds of carbuncles, ulcers, swelling and toxic masses, flowing abscesses, breast toxins, scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis), phlegm nodules, as well as traumatic injuries, wind-cold-dampness bi-syndrome, cold pain in bone joints, and stubborn blood-wind sores. It is also effective for headache, toothache, heart and abdominal pain, waist and leg pain, fiery eyes, cough, five types of childhood malnutrition with diarrhea, etc.
Preparation: Take four taels of processed sesame oil, boil it. Add one jin of processed pine rosin, melt it over a gentle fire while stirring with a willow branch. Once fully melted, remove from heat and add two taels and three qian of fine medicinal powder, stir evenly. Immediately pour into water. Pull and stretch dozens of times, change the water and soak for later use.
For traumatic injuries, swelling, toxic masses, scrofula, etc., if the sore is unbroken, add Weixiang San. Depending on the size of the ointment and the severity of the condition, add half to two or three fen as a standard. If already broken, add Shengji San separately. However, applying this ointment to broken sores causes less pain, which is not as clever as adding Shengji San to black ointment. For cases with deep toxicity and incomplete pus discharge, as well as stubborn opposite-mouth sores, even if ulcerated, this ointment must be used to achieve efficacy. For unbroken sores, do not peel off after application; peeling causes itching. For painful ones, do not peel off either, as it can accelerate suppuration. If the lesion is on a flat surface, apply using paper backing; if on a bending or rotating joint, apply using silk backing.
For traumatic injuries, swelling, toxic masses, and pain, apply directly to the affected area. For yin sores and cold-damp sores on buttocks and legs, first wash with tea water containing a small amount of alum, then apply the ointment. Visible effects appear within days.
For wind-cold cough, apply to the back. For headache, apply to the Taiyang acupoint. For toothache, insert into the tooth gap. For fiery eyes, apply to the fish-tail area (outer canthus).
For pediatric malnutrition and dysentery, form pills the size of mung beans, coated with Shenqu (Medicated Leaven). Take 30-20 pills each time, washed down with rice soup. For internal carbuncles, coat with Ge Fen (Clam Powder) and take orally. For genital chancres and phlegm nodules, add Weixiang San. For malignant sores, add Tong Qing (Malachite). For eel-infected scalp tinea/toxins, it is verified to be effective.
Oil Preparation Method: For every jin of Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum), add Angelicae Radix (Danggui), Semen Momordicae (Mugua Zi Rou), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Crotonis Fructus (Badou Ren), Arca Concha (Wen Ge, crushed), Fomes Officinalis (Shanzhigu, crushed), Radix Euphorbiae Humifusa (Hongya Daji), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan) (each 1 liang), and branches of Sophora japonica (Huai Zhi) and Salix integra (Liu Zhi) (each 28 cun). Soak in oil for 21 days. Boil until herbs are withered, strain and discard dregs, collect the oil for use. (Note: I observed that Korean Hupo Ointment often adds Semen Euphorbiae (Juisui Zi); this formula should include it.)
Rosin Preparation Method: Select clean, tender sheet-like pine rosin, grind into powder, 10 jin. Take 5 jin each of Sophora japonica, Salix, Prunus persica, Morus alba, and Hibiscus mutabilis branches. Chop finely. Boil in a large pot to make a concentrated decoction, filter cleanly, and boil again. Collect separately. Divide each decoction into five parts. Use one part of the first decoction, bring to a boil, add 2 jin of rosin powder, stir with willow and sophora branches. Boil until the rosin sinks to the bottom. Pour immediately into the second decoction. While hot, pull and stretch dozens of times, aiming for continuity without breaking. When cool, shape into cakes for storage. Process remaining rosin similarly. (This is the original formula. However, the resulting ointment color lacks red brightness; add Caesalpinia sappan Lignum (Sumu) boiled with the five branches to improve color.)
Fine Medicinal Powder for Ointment:
Boswelliae Carterii Resina (Ruxiang), Myrrha (Moyao) (both de-oiled), Dracaena Cochinchinensis Lacca (Xuexie) (each 5 qian), Calomelas (Qingfen), Moschus (Shexiang) (each 2 qian), Realgar (Ming Xionghuang) (4 qian).

Branches of Mugwort, Willow, Elm, Sophora, and Mulberry (each 21 cun), Sesame Oil (3 jin). Soak for 7 days. Boil according to standard method. Strain and discard dregs. For every jin of clear oil, add Lithargirum (Huangdan) 7 liang. Boil into ointment. Add Beeswax (Huangla) 5 qian and melt evenly. Then add Boswelliae Carterii Resina (Ruxiang), Camellia Seed Cake (Ercha), Myrrha (Moyao) (each 3 qian), Trogopteri Excrement (Wulingzhi) (5 pieces), Ostrea Concha (Muli) (5 qian), Dracaena Cochinchinensis Lacca (Xuexie) (5 qian). Form ointment, remove "fire toxicity" (heat properties), ready for use.
Jiangzhu Ointment: Treats ulcers, removes necrotic tissue, relieves pain, and promotes tissue regeneration.
Sesame Oil (10 liang), Chicken Yolk (Jizi Huang) (10 yolks), Human Hair Ash (Xueyu) (5 qian), Semen Cannabis (Maziren Rou) (81 grains), White Beeswax (Baimila) (3 liang), Refined Lithargirum (Fei Huangdan) (2 liang), Boswelliae Carterii Resina (Ruxiang), Myrrha (Moyao), Calomelas (Qingfen), Margarita (Zhenzhu), Dracaena Cochinchinensis Lacca (Xuexie), Camellia Seed Cake (Ercha) (each 3 qian), Cinnabar (Zhusha) (2 qian), Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian) (1 qian), Moschus (Shexiang) (5 fen).
For Mammary Cancer (Ruyan), add Vermilion (Yinzhu) (1 liang).
First melt oil and human hair ash. Fry cannabis seeds until withered, strain, add wax. Remove from heat when melted. After cooling slightly, add refined lithargirum and stir evenly. Then add fine medicinal powders, mix well, and store.
Yingzhu Ointment: Treats ulcers by removing necrotic tissue, relieving pain, promoting tissue regeneration, as well as syphilitic sores, flogging wounds, malignant sores, and chancroids.
Pork Fat (Zhuzhi) (10 liang), White Beeswax (Baimila) (3 liang). Melt and remove from heat. When cool, add Calomelas (Qingfen) and Borneolum (Zhangbing) (each 1.5 liang).
Grind above ingredients into powder, mix evenly. When slightly congealing, add Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian) 1 qian powder, stir evenly to form ointment. Store in a jar. Before use, wash the area with a decoction of Licorice Root (Gancao) and Sophora Root (Kushen) (each 3 qian), then apply ointment. For flogging wounds, spread thinly on Jingchuan paper and apply. Change if hot. The stasis and toxins will dissipate, and pain stops immediately.
For Syphilitic Chancre (Yangmei Chuang), add Hongfen (Red Mercury Compound) 3 qian. For stubborn sores and Mammary Cancer (Ruyan), add Yinzhu (Vermilion) 1 liang. For malignant sores, add Water Longgu (Shuilonggu) 3 qian or 4 qian.
Shengji Yuhong Ointment: This ointment is specifically for treating carbuncles, back infections, and various ulcerated flogging toxins. It is used when the sore has already ulcerated and is discharging pus. First wash with Licorice Decoction; for severe cases, wash with Pig Trotter Medicinal Decoction. Wipe dry with soft silk. Take a small amount of ointment on the palm, warm and spread it, then apply evenly over new and necrotic tissue. Cover externally with Yasheng Ointment. For large sores, wash and change twice daily (morning and evening). Internally, administer warming tonics for the Spleen and Stomach. This facilitates the shedding of necrotic tissue, rapid growth of new tissue, and natural contraction of the wound. It is considered a miraculous收敛 (astringent/healing) agent in external surgery.
Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) (5 qian), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (1.2 liang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Guishen) (2 liang), Dracaena Cochinchinensis Lacca (Xuexie) (4 qian), Calomelas (Qingfen) (4 qian), White Beeswax (Baimila) (2 liang), Lithospermi Radix (Zicao) (2 qian), Sesame Oil (1 jin).
First, soak Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Guishen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao), Lithospermi Radix (Zicao), and Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) in oil for three days. Slowly simmer in a large ladle until slightly withered and colored. Filter through fine silk to clarify. Return oil to ladle, bring to a boil. Add Dracaena Cochinchinensis Lacca (Xuexie) and melt completely. Then add White Beeswax (Baimila) and melt over low heat. Prepare four tea cups by pre-warming them in water. Divide the ointment into four portions and pour into the cups. Wait a moment, then add finely ground Calomelas (Qingfen). Add 1 qian per cup, stir evenly. Let stand for one fu period (approx. 2 hours), then remove. Do not alter proportions, or efficacy will be compromised.
Xuanzhu Ointment: Treats swollen lumps about to ulcerate. Applying it draws pus out through pores. For already punctured wounds, use a cotton wick dipped in the ointment to insert into the hole to drain pus. For residual stasis and necrotic tissue, applying it dissolves it immediately.
Semen Momordicae (Mugua Zi Rou) (14 seeds), Mylabris (Banmao) (81 insects), Salix Branch (Liu Zhi) (49 cun), optionally add Donkey Shell (Lv Jiapian) (3 qian), Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix (Caowu) (1 qian), Sesame Oil (1 liang).
Soak for 7 days. Simmer gently until withered. Strain and discard dregs. Add Crotonis Fructus (Badou Ren) 3 liang. Boil until beans turn black. Pour into a mortar, grind into paste. Add Moschus (Shexiang) 1 fen, mix evenly. Store in a jar.
Biluo Ointment: Treats damp sores, scabies, and tinea in the lower body, as well as chancre-related phlegm nodules and malignant sores.
Pine Rosin (Songxiang): Select tender, white, sheet-like rosin, grind and sieve. Grease a copper basin with pork fat. Boil water, add rosin, stir continuously until rosin sinks to the bottom. Pour into cold water, pull/stretch 100+ times until continuous. Sesame Oil (3 liang).
Boil sesame oil until it forms beads when dropped in water. Add 1 jin of prepared pine rosin, melt over gentle fire. Remove when consistency is appropriate. Stop boiling. Slowly add Bran Cyanide (Kangqing) and Alum (Danfan) fine powder (each 5 qian). Stir counter-clockwise with a willow branch until uniform. If too hard, add 2-3 qian of rendered pork fat. Spread thinly on green paper.
This formula uses Earth for the stove, Mulberry wood for fuel, Silver for the vessel, Water for boiling, and Fire for frying, reflecting the theory of Five Elements.
Beiye Ointment: Treats carbuncles, back infections, and all kinds of ulcerated sores.
Sesame Oil (1 jin), Human Hair Ash (Xueyu) (size of a chicken egg).
Simmer gently until melted. Strain and remove from heat. Add White Beeswax (Baimila) 2 liang and melt. When cool, cut cotton paper into pieces. Dip three sheets at a time into the oil-wax mixture. Stick to the rim of porcelain vessels. When using, peel off single sheets and apply to the affected area. Change 8-9 times daily. It effectively relieves pain, removes necrotic tissue, and promotes regeneration. Its action is very fast; do not neglect it.
