For all the above formulas, whenever any deficiency patterns occur after the ulceration of carbuncles and sores, these formulas serve as the standard basis and should be selected according to specific symptoms.
[Folk Song] Si Jun Zi Tang consists of Ginseng, Poria, Atractylodes, and Licorice; Si Wu Tang comprises Ligusticum, Angelica, White Peony, and Rehmannia. The combination of these two forms Ba Zhen Tang; adding Astragalus and Cinnamon creates Shi Quan Da Bu Tang. Ren Shen Yang Rong Tang removes Ligusticum, adds Citrus, Polygala, and Schisandra. For food stagnation with spleen-stomach weakness, add Shan Zha (Crataegi Fructus), Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), and Gu Ya (Setariae Fructus Germinatus) [or Mai Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus)]. These are all cases of Qi insufficiency after ulceration, using Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) as the main formula, modified according to symptoms.
[Folk Song] Yi Gong San adds Citrus to Four Gentlemen; Li Zhong reduces Poria and adds Dried Ginger. For Phlegm, Citrus and Pinellia form Six Gentlemen; for vomiting, Amomum and Patchouli/Costus. For regurgitation, add Clove and Agarwood; for cold, Cinnamon and Aconite. For diarrhea, add Chebula, Nutmeg, and Poppy Shell.
