Fire-red sores arise from seasonal epidemic qi, presenting as widespread blistering eruptions. Treatment is differentiated by upper/lower body location and the predominance of wind-dampness or heat; purging Heart fire and clearing Spleen heat will naturally bring peace to the condition.

[Note] This syndrome arises from reckless movement of Heart fire, or contraction of summer-heat epidemic qi during hot seasons. Fire pathogenic factors enter the Lung organ and become stagnated and knotted. Initially, lesions are small like water chestnuts or large like chess pieces, containing blistering fluid. Those with red coloration are called Fire-red sores (Huochi Chuang); those with white tops and red bases are called Tianpao sores (Tianpao Chuang). Both conditions spread over the whole body, accompanied by fever and pain. Before rupture, they are not firm; after rupture, toxic fluid oozes causing erosion without foul odor. Lesions predominantly on the upper body indicate excess Wind-Heat, suitable for Jiedu Xiexin Tang (Detoxification and Heart-Purging Decoction); lesions predominantly on the lower body indicate excess Damp-Heat, suitable for Qingpi Chushi Yin (Spleen-Clearing and Dampness-Expelling Drink). For unruptured lesions, Kedou Badu San (Tadpole Detoxifying Powder) should be applied externally; for ruptured lesions, Shizhen San (Stone Precious Powder) should be sprinkled externally. Clearing damp-heat allows broken areas to dry naturally, yielding excellent results.

Jiedu Xiexin Tang (Detoxification and Heart-Purging Decoction)
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried and crushed), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, crushed), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, raw), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Huashi (Talcum), each 1 qian; Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), each 0.5 qian.
Decoct 2 zhong of water with 20 roots of Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) to 0.8 zhong. Take far after meals.

[Fang Ge - Prescription Song] Jiedu Xiexin Tang treats Fire-red sores; Huangqin, Huanglian, Niubangzi, Mutong, Zhimu; Shigao, Zhizi, Fangfeng, Gancao; Yuan Shen, Jingjie, and Huashi.

Qingpi Chushi Yin (Spleen-Clearing and Dampness-Expelling Drink)
Chifuling (Poria Cocos with Red Bark), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, earth-fried), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice wash water and fried), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, heart removed), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, raw and crushed), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, heart removed), Yinchenshao (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried), Yuanmingfen (Natrii Sulfas), each 1 qian.
Decoct 2 zhong of water with 20 leaves of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) and 20 roots of Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) to 0.8 zhong. Take before meals.

[Fang Ge - Prescription Song] Qingpi Chushi Yin treats Tianpao disease; Chifuling, Er Zhu (Baizhu and Cangzhu), Huangqin, Sheng Dihuang; Maidong, Zhizi, Zexie, Gancao, Lianqiao; Yinchenshao and Yuanmingfen together form the preparation.

Shizhen San (Stone Precious Powder)
Qingfen (Calomelas), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, calcined), each 1 liang; Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex powder), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), each 3 qian.
Grind uniformly into powder. First wash the sore area with Gancao decoction, then sprinkle this powder.

[Fang Ge - Prescription Song] Shizhen San removes fire pathogen harm; Tianpao sores, once ruptured, heal safely when sprinkled; 1 liang Qingfen with Shigao, 3 qian Huangbai plus Qingdai.
