前五味，共研细末，用皂角去子、皮、弦，泡捶，以布绞取汁一碗，又用新薄荷捣取汁，
同熬成膏，和入药末内为丸，如梧桐子大。每服三十丸，食后滚汤送下。
【方歌】犀角丸能除心火，诸般瘰 兼目红，牵牛半生半炒用，陈薄皂角连翘青。
夏枯草膏 治男妇小儿忧思气郁，瘰 坚硬，肝旺血燥，骤用迅烈之剂，恐伤脾气，
以此膏常服消之。
京夏枯草（一斤半） 当归 白芍（酒炒） 黑参 乌药 浙贝母（去心） 僵蚕（炒，各五钱）
昆布 桔梗 陈皮 抚芎 甘草（各三钱） 香附（酒炒，一两） 红花（二钱）
前药共入砂锅内，水煎浓汤，布滤去渣。将汤复入砂锅内，漫火熬浓，加红蜜八两，再
熬成膏，瓷罐收贮。每用一二匙，滚水冲服。兼戒气怒、鱼腥。亦可用薄纸摊贴，瘰 自消。

芍贝僵香附桔，昆红参草抚陈皮，乌药同熬加红蜜，滚水冲服戒怒急。

The first five medicinal materials are ground into fine powder together. Use Gleditsiae Fructus (Zaojiao, 皂角) from which the seeds, peel, and strings have been removed; soak and pound it, then squeeze out one bowl of juice using a cloth. Also, crush fresh Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Xinbohe, 新薄荷) to extract its juice. Boil these juices together until they form a paste, mix in the medicinal powder to make pills, sized like Sophora japonica seeds (Wutongzi, 梧桐子). Take thirty pills each time, washed down with boiling water after meals.
[Prescription Song] Xijiao Wan (Rhinoceros Horn Pill) can clear Heart Fire, treating various Scrofula accompanied by red eyes. Phasi Semen (Qianniu, 牵牛子) is used half raw and half stir-fried; Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), Bohe (Mint), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Fruit), Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit), and Qingpi (Green Tangerine Peel) are included.
Xiakucao Gao (Prunella Paste) treats Scrofula that is hard and firm in men, women, and children caused by worry, thinking, and Qi stagnation, as well as Liver hyperactivity and Blood dryness. If sudden use of rapid and fierce agents is employed, it may damage Spleen Qi; therefore, this paste should be taken regularly to dissipate the condition.
Jing Xiakucao (Herba Prunellae, 京夏枯草) (1 jin 5 liang), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 当归), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, 白芍) (stir-fried with wine), Heishen (Radix Panacis Nigricaulis, 黑参), Wuyao (Fructus Linderae, 乌药), Zhebeimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii, 浙贝母) (heart removed), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 僵蚕) (stir-fried, each 5 qian), Kunbu (Thallus Laminariae seu Eckloniae, 昆布), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis, 桔梗), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 陈皮), Fuxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 抚芎), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 甘草) (each 3 qian), Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi Rotundi, 香附) (stir-fried with wine, 1 liang), Honghua (Flos Carthami, 红花) (2 qian).
Put all the above medicines into a clay pot, decoct with water to obtain a thick liquid, filter through cloth to remove dregs. Pour the liquid back into the clay pot, simmer slowly over low heat until concentrated, add 8 liang of Red Honey (Hongmi, 红蜜), and continue boiling until it forms a paste. Store in a porcelain jar. Take one or two spoons each time, mixed with boiling water for oral administration. Simultaneously, avoid anger and fishy/smelly foods. It can also be spread on thin paper and applied externally; Scrofula will naturally dissipate.
[Prescription Song] Xiakucao Gao treats various Scrofula, resolving hardness and dissipating firmness while regulating Liver deficiency. For Blood dryness, worry, thinking, and Liver Wood hyperactivity, if fierce medicines damage Spleen Qi, taking this paste is appropriate. Danggui, Baishao, Beimu, Jiangcan, Xiangfu, Jie, Kunbu, Honghua, Shen, Gancao, Fuxiong, Chenpi, and Chenpi are listed; Wuyao is boiled together with added Red Honey; take with boiling water and avoid anger and urgency.

Jinbei San (Gold and Areca Nut Powder) treats Scrofula that is hard and difficult to dissipate or rupture; application yields miraculous effects.
