When cold damage (Shanghan) progresses to the sixth day, the Foot Jueyin Meridian is affected. The Jueyin Meridian is the channel of the Liver. Its pulse circulates along the yin regions and connects with the Liver. Therefore, after six days of illness, symptoms such as mental restlessness and fullness, along with contraction of the genitals, may occur. This indicates that both yin and yang meridians are affected, and toxic heat is accumulated in the Stomach. Thus, purgation can be used to achieve a cure.
In treating cold damage on the sixth day, if the pathogen has deeply settled in the zang-fu organs, affecting all three yin and three yang meridians, and if the qi and blood of the five zang and six fu organs, as well as Ying and Wei, are completely blocked, the patient is difficult to treat.
Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri, 2 liang, remove seedlings), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae, 1 liang), Chi Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 1 liang), Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae, 0.5 liang, wash seven times in decoction to remove slipperiness), Zhi Shi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, 0.5 liang, stir-bran-fried until slightly yellow), Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 1 or 2 liang, remove rhizome), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red, cut into pieces).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhong zhan of water and half a fen of fresh ginger. Decoct until six parts remain. Strain. Take warm at any time.
For cold damage on the sixth day, where the disease is deep-seated in the viscera, involving all three yin and three yang meridians, and if the circulation of nutritive and defensive qi in the five zang and six fu organs is obstructed, the prognosis is poor.

Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhong zhan of water. Decoct until six parts remain. Strain. Take warm at any time. Use bowel movement as the criterion for efficacy. If no bowel movement occurs after walking ten li, administer another dose.
