During pregnancy, if one contracts a warm pestilence or cold damage, accumulating pathogenic toxic qi that enters the Baozang (uterus), it may cause fetal death. If the area where the fetus is located feels cold to the touch, it indicates that the fetus has died.
The following methods can be used to expel the dead fetus:
Formula for treating heat disease during pregnancy with a dead fetus in the uterus, intended for expulsion:
Take one black-bone chicken, remove feathers, chop finely, and boil in three sheng of water until reduced to two sheng. Remove the chicken meat. While warm, massage the area below the navel; the dead fetus will naturally be expelled.
Another formula:
Take vinegar and mix it with strongly decocted black soybean juice. Take one small cup warm; the dead fetus will be expelled immediately.
Another formula:
Take one egg, remove the shell, place salt amounting to three fingerfuls into the egg, stir evenly, and ingest; the dead fetus will be expelled immediately.
Formula for treating heat disease during pregnancy with a dead fetus in the uterus, intended for downward purgation:
Lujiao Gao (Deer Horn Paste) 1 liang.
Add five stalks of scallion white and half he of fermented soybeans to one large cup of water.
Decoct until reduced to sixty percent volume, filter dregs, and take warm.
Another formula:
Crush and squeeze fresh Yimucao (Leonurus japonicus) to obtain juice. Take one medium cup for immediate effect.
Another formula:
Take Sanliang of Qinzizhong (Scutellaria seeds) and two large cups of water.
Decoct until reduced to one medium cup, filter dregs, and take warm.
Pregnancy malaria occurs because summer-heat pathogen was contracted in summer and lodged in the skin. In autumn, due to labor and exhaustion of Qi and blood, the Couli (pores and interstices) become deficient, allowing wind pathogen to invade and stir up previous summer-heat. The righteous Qi and pathogen contend, leading to paroxysmal episodes.
