(Attached: Turbid Urine Syndrome)
The Bladder and Kidney are exteriorly-interiorly related, both governing water metabolism. When attacked by heat pathogens, the fluids are boiled down to form Lin syndrome (strangury). Just as boiling water becomes turbid, this clearly indicates a fire-heat pathology. There are five types named: First is Stone Lin (Stone Strangury), where heat in the Kidney channel transforms fluids into sand and stones discharged with urine, producing a gurgling sound and pain in the urethra; Second is Qi Lin (Qi Strangury), where heat from the Lung attacks the Kidney channel, flowing into the Bladder, causing short and scanty urination with difficult flow, pain that comes and goes, and urine that may be red or white; Third is Blood Lin (Blood Strangury), where the Heart governs blood, excessive heat in the Heart channel causes blood to lose its normal course and seep into the Bladder, resulting in painful urination with hematuria; Fourth is Cold Lin (Cold Strangury), characterized by chills and shivering preceding the ability to urinate; Fifth is Heat Lin (Heat Strangury), caused by stagnant heat in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) descending to attack the Kidney and flowing into the Bladder, leading to red and scanty urination, body fever, and irritability. "Lin" refers to dribbling urination that is not smooth or free. The symptoms include urgent pain in the umbilicus and urethra triggered by urination.
Furthermore, there is a condition in infants where, during fetal development, the parents used aphrodisiac heat-inducing drugs during intercourse, poisoning the fetus. Upon birth, this syndrome appears immediately; it should be treated with Zi Xue Wan (Purple Snow Pill) for efficacy, and it is not covered by the treatment of the Five Lins. Another condition involves turbid urine that turns milky white like rice washings immediately upon discharge. This is due to dietary injury to the Spleen, with heat knotting in the middle jiao, preventing the separation of Yin and Yang. It is suitable to use methods that digest food, clear heat, and separate Yin and Yang; this also falls outside the scope of treating the Five Lins.
