(Attached: Various Worm Pains)
Symptoms of heart and abdominal pain are not limited to a single cause. They may arise from accumulation (Ji, solid masses), aggregation (Ju, mobile masses), parasites, food stagnation, cold pathogens, or heat pathogens. By clearly distinguishing the symptom patterns, errors can be avoided. The Classics state: The Five Zang organs have five types of Ji accumulations; the Six Fu organs have six types of Ju aggregations. The liver's Ji is called "Feiqi" (Fat Qi), located under the left hypochondrium, shaped like an inverted cup, with a head and feet; the heart's Ji is called "Fuliang" (Hidden Beam), starting above the umbilicus, as large as an arm, extending upward to below the heart; the spleen's Ji is called "Piqi" (Stagnant Qi), located in the middle of the epigastrium, covering an area as large as a plate; the lung's Ji is called "Xiben" (Gasp for Breath), located under the right hypochondrium, shaped like a large inverted cup; the kidney's Ji is called "Ben tun" (Rushing Pig), originating in the lower abdomen, extending upward to below the heart, resembling a running pig, moving up or down without fixed timing. Ji accumulations are generated by the Five Zang organs; Ju aggregations are formed by the Six Fu organs. Ji refers to accumulated matter, with a fixed onset location, and pain remains within its region; Ju refers to gathering and dispersing irregularly, with pain occurring in varying locations. The Classics record nine types of worms. Infants have weak spleen qi and fragile intestines and stomachs. Any raw or cold substances that accumulate internally and fail to digest over time can form accumulations, subsequently transforming into various parasites. If left untreated, the worms attach to the zang-fu organs, consuming essence and blood internally. Symptoms include a pale complexion, spitting clear saliva, intermittent heart and abdominal pain, emaciation, and progression to "Gan disease" (infantile malnutrition syndrome). Worms in the human abdomen face upward during the first ten days of the lunar month, lie horizontally during the second ten days, and face downward during the third ten days. To expel worms, medication must be taken at dawn (wugeng time) during the first ten days, so that by mid-morning all worms will be expelled; otherwise, the efficacy will be compromised. Zhang Zihe stated: All pains belong to qi stagnation. For all heart and abdominal pain diseases, regulating qi should be the primary approach. Treating heat with cold herbs requires adaptation to seasonal changes; expelling pathogens and supporting healthy qi relies on the power of medicine to succeed.
Zhimi Qiqi Tang (Seven-Qi Decoction for Guiding Confusion) treats all pains, both major and minor, various types of fullness and accumulation, sallow complexion, and emaciation. These conditions stem from internal worm accumulation, cravings for raw rice, dirt, tea charcoal, sour/salty substances, etc. This formula is effective for all such cases.
