Pulse that is floating, surging (Hong), and rapid indicates deficient fire. Pulse that is deep and solid-large indicates excess fire. A surging-large pulse appearing at the left Cun position indicates Heart Fire. Appearing at the right Cun position indicates Lung Fire. Appearing at the left Guan position indicates Liver Fire. Appearing at the right Guan position indicates Spleen Fire. At both Chi positions, it refers to the Fire of the Kidney Meridian and Mingmen (Gate of Vitality). In men, if the pulses at both Chi positions are surging and large, seminal emission will inevitably occur; this is due to flourishing Yin Fire. The Zang-Fu organs of humans each possess fire, but there are differences between deficiency and excess. However, excess fire can be purged; for example, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) purges Heart Fire, Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) purges Lung Fire, Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) purges Spleen Fire, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) purges Stomach Fire, Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) purges Liver Fire, and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) purges Kidney Fire. These are all bitter-cold substances capable of purging surplus fire. If dietary irregularities or overwork cause internal injury to Yuan Qi (Original Qi), where fire and righteous qi cannot coexist, this constitutes a disease of Yang deficiency, which should be treated with sweet-warm formulas, such as Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). If Yin is weak and Yang is hyperactive, with Xianghuo (Ministerial Fire) blazing and invading Yin positions, this constitutes a disease of Blood deficiency, which should be treated with sweet-cold formulas to descend it, such as Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix). If Heart Fire is extremely hyperactive with stagnant heat internally solidified, this constitutes a disease of Yang hyperactivity, which should be treated with salty-cold formulas to subdue and break it, such as Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas). If Kidney Water is affected by cold, causing True Yin to lose its hold and generating rootless fire, this constitutes a disease of Yin deficiency, which should be treated with formulas that strengthen Water (nourish Kidney Yin) to control it, such as Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) and Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix). If there is decline of Mingmen Fire in the Kidney Meridian, this constitutes a disease of Yang collapse, which should be treated with warm-hot formulas to assist it, such as Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) and Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma). If Stomach deficiency combined with excessive consumption of cold foods suppresses Yang Qi within the Spleen Earth, this constitutes a disease of Fire Depression, which should be treated with ascending and dispersing formulas to vent it, primarily using Shengyang Sanhuo Tang (Ascending Yang and Dispersing Fire Decoction). For excess fire in various meridians, adjust according to the following formulas without being rigid.
Another discussion: Men and women experiencing heat in the four limbs, heat between bones and sinews, and heat on the muscle surface like fire, burning upon touch. This condition often arises from Blood deficiency. Alternatively, it may result from Spleen deficiency and excessive consumption of cold foods, suppressing Yang Qi within Spleen Earth; when Fire is depressed, it should be dispersed.

For cough, add Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), and Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix). For Yang toxin with macules, add Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix). For chest binding with fullness below the heart, add Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) and Zhike (Aurantii Fructus). For delirium and mania, such as climbing walls or jumping into wells, indicating extreme Yang heat, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex), and Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra). For eye nebula, turbidity, redness, dryness, and tearing, add Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Muzei (Equiseti Herba), and Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata).
Dajinhua Wan (Great Golden Flower Pill): Resolves latent fire in various heat-affected Zang organs.
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (remove hairs), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex) (remove bark), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) (remove seeds, equal parts).

Another variation: Add Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) and Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) stir-fried with wine to treat all upper Jiao heat syndromes, also treating nasal bleeding.
Another discussion: Accumulated heat and phlegm, along with excess heat in the Five Zang organs and Sanjiao, complicated by heat-induced diarrhea, food stagnation and chest oppression, sore throat, red and swollen eyes, heatstroke, irritability, etc., and early-stage carbuncles and sores.
Huangjin Wan (Golden Treasure Pill)
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (stir-fried), Yujin (Curcumae Radix) (preferably very small ones are best), Yazao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) (remove tendons and skin, equal parts).

Take 30-50 pills per dose, adjusting according to severity, with plain warm water. Stop after one or two bowel movements to avoid damaging Yuan Qi (Original Qi).
Another discussion: Upper Jiao accumulated heat, wind-phlegm obstruction, red and swollen head and eyes, possibly carbuncles and boils, throat discomfort, constipation and difficult urination, all wind-heat conditions. It can also grind away stagnations from alcohol and food.

A woman in her forties experienced fever at night, subsiding in the morning, with five-palm heat, unceasing. After half a year, all six pulses were rapid, deep, firm, and completely unresponsive to light palpation. She was given four doses of Shengyang Sanhuo Tang (Ascending Yang and Dispersing Fire Decoction), reducing the heat by more than half, with the chest feeling clearer and more comfortable than before. Two additional doses caused the heat to completely recede. Subsequently, she was treated with Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) plus Huangbai (Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex) and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), with a small amount of stir-fried black Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma). After twenty doses, she fully recovered.
