The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: "Ingesting Jade Spring daily makes one vigorous and robust, improves complexion, expels parasites, and strengthens the teeth." Jade Spring refers to saliva in the mouth. Before rising early in the morning, rinse the mouth and swallow the saliva, then tap the teeth fourteen times. Repeat this three times before stopping; this method is called "Refining Essence" (Lian Jing).
It further states: "Swallowing saliva nine times before stopping can nourish deficiency and emaciation (Xu Lao), making one strong and robust."
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Guiding and Pulling Methods of Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: "Sit on the ground with feet crossed, insert both hands from between the feet, lower the head, and cross hands above the neck." [Note: The original text appears incomplete here.]
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: "If a person can refrain from spitting saliva all day and constantly holds a date pit while swallowing, thereby receiving vital energy and generating fluids, this is of great importance."
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: "Lie flat on your back, slowly inhale air through the mouth, and exhale through the nose to relieve internal urgency. After a full meal, swallow air in small gulps dozens of times. For those suffering from cold, if dry heaving and abdominal pain occur, exhale seventy times from the mouth. After filling the abdomen with air, swallow air in small gulps dozens of times again. Rub hands together until extremely hot and massage the abdomen to guide the Qi downward."
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: "Extend both hands' fingers upward, palms facing south, rotating towards the four directions. Bend elbows upward, perform the movement to its utmost limit, hold for twenty-eight counts (4x7), then release hands to hang down. Shake lightly backward to disperse Qi for fourteen counts (2x7). Move both arms up and down for fourteen counts each. This removes pain and stuffiness in the arms and ribs internally. Gradual practice will permanently eliminate these issues."
It further states: "Sit in a wide straddle position, grasp the five toes of both feet with both hands to stretch maximally, lower the head, and hold breath for nine cycles. This treats pain and labor diseases of the neck, spine, waist, and legs."
It further states: "Lie supine and extend the toes of both feet. Stretch the right hand straight beside the body. Inhale through the nose for seven breaths to remove bone pain."
It further states: "Sit upright, straighten the waist, raise the right hand, palm facing up. Bend the left arm to cover the right hand. Inhale through the nose, holding to the maximum for seven breaths. Pause slightly and move the left hand during each breath interval. This removes pain in both arms and the back."
It further states: "Kneel and bend the body downward, keeping the head five inches from the ground. Then lift the head, face upward, and simultaneously withdraw both hands. First, extend the left hand long towards the body, and one hand long towards the rear. Perform the extreme posture front and back for fourteen counts (2x7); do the same for the left and right. This removes issues in the arm bones, spine, and tendons, harmonizes Yin and Yang, and relieves pain and stuffiness."
It further states: "Sit on one foot, place the other foot horizontally under the knee. Press down on the upper knee with one hand, while the other hand takes a reverse posture. Extend the head long and look forward. Simultaneously take posture with both hands, press and shake for fourteen counts (2x7). Alternate left and right similarly. This removes stagnation, slow blood flow, cramping, pain, and stuffiness in the thighs, chest, neck, and armpits. Hug both feet securely, then pull one foot forward to the extreme limit, bringing the head and face past the toes of both feet. Go up and down for twenty-one cycles (3x7); switch feet for the left and right similarly. This removes pain, stuffiness, and disharmony in the arms, waist, back, thighs, and knees, and regulates the Qi and fluids of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs. Bend one foot forward so that the Bladder area rests on the knee. Extend the other foot backward to the limit, pressing the toes firmly. Place both hands backward, resembling a flying immortal, with the head raised vacuously. Take this posture simultaneously for fourteen counts (2x7). Switch feet left and right by one inch to remove general bodily disharmony."
It further states: "Stretch both legs long, pressing toes upward. Stretch both hands long, palms facing each other, fingers straight. Raise the head and arch the spine, reaching the extreme posture simultaneously. Complete three rounds. Move feet apart by one chi, keep hands in place, rotate palms inward and outward seven times. In a moment, move feet apart by two chi, press hands down onto the mat, reaching the extreme posture three times. This removes labor and deficiency in internal joints and tendons throughout the body, as well as bone marrow pain and stuffiness. Stretch both hands long towards the body. Use both hands and the toes of both feet. Urgently direct the mind without using force, gathering Heart Qi below the feet. Simultaneously exert both hands and feet to the extreme limit for twenty-one cycles (3x7). This removes arm and waist pain, resolves Qi stagnation at the Jie Xi acupoint, and gradually reduces damage day by day."
