(Heat in palms and soles, with Five-Heart Heat)
*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Catalogue of Causes and Manifestations of All Diseases), Chapter on Fanre (Vexing Heat): In infants and children whose zang-fu organs are full and blood-qigong is vigorous, if both the exterior and interior are hot, they will suffer from vexation and restlessness, accompanied by high skin fever.
*Xiao'er Xingzheng Lun* (Discussion on Infantile Forms and Syndromes), Song for the Forty-Eight Syndromes of Latent Heat in the Lung Organ:
The disease caused by latent heat in the lung family is difficult to predict; lying down at night brings mental vexation and constipation. Advise you to gently induce bowel movements two or three times, then administer mild and balanced medicines. If bad breath and clear nasal discharge are added, one must inquire into the root cause and exercise great care. If severe heat persists, it may be difficult to treat; do not force potent remedies indiscriminately.
This disease involves wind pathogens in the large and small intestines, causing stagnation and obstruction. One should administer *Kuan Dachang Binglang San* (Areca Nut Decoction to Broaden the Large Intestine) (see formula in this section). With tidal fever, bad breath, and clear nasal discharge, prognosis is poor due to damage to the Spleen and Lung.
