(Attached to Milk Lichen)
*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Chao Yuanfang), Pediatric Xuan Syndrome: Xuan disease arises from the struggle between wind pathogen and blood/qi within the skin, failing to dissipate and transforming into urticaria-like rashes. The rashes are millet-grain sized, taking square or round shapes, gradually spreading and enlarging, accompanied by itching and pain. Scratching yields exudate; this condition is named Xuan. For pediatric facial xuan, where the skin resembles rough scales and appears dry, it is called Ru Xuan (Milk Lichen). This occurs when milk spills on the infant's face during feeding; washing the affected area with milk leads to recovery.
*Tong Ying Bao Jian*: Pediatric xuan results from a mother bathing in the wind, drying incompletely before nursing the child with water-mixed milk, or failing to apply powder after sweating in summer. The sores appear as fine, star-like spots.
