*Yu Jue* discusses accumulated heat, which arises from careless dietary habits, frequently consuming sticky foods, fishy and mutton flavors, fatty and greasy items, cold and slippery substances, as well as fruits. This has already injured the Spleen and Stomach. The Stomach Fu organ is weak and minute; food condenses into solid masses that are difficult to digest, generating sores, scars, and accumulations. These may attack the Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi between the chest and hypochondrium, causing vomiting, regurgitation with coarse breathing, dry eyes, exacerbated thirst, diarrhea, and fullness in both hypochondria. One should continue treatment with decoctions or powders, preferably employing methods of dispersing and unblocking, and administer Qianjin Wan (Prescription seen in this section).
*Form Zheng Lun* Song of the Forty-Eight Conditions: Heart Accumulated Heat:
The child has food accumulation with excessive thirst, forgetting milk and food, finding it difficult to swallow. High fever, diarrhea, undigested food, cold limbs, frequent vomiting and syncope. Know that heart accumulated heat resides in the center; removing the accumulation allows the middle jiao heat to subside. Once the heat subsides, harmonizing the body yields merit; do not let condensed toxins cause fright convulsions.
This disease first requires removing the accumulation, then regulating Qi. Minor residual heat is not a concern. To remove accumulation from deficiency, use Zao Jiao Gao (Prescription seen in this section).
*Ling Yuan* treats various types of fright and accumulated heat in children, resolving phlegm toxicity. Jin Sha Dan Prescription:
Guangming Sha (Bright Cinnabar), Qilin Xie (Kylin Blood/Resin), Moyao (Myrrh), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 1 fen), Sheng Baifan (Raw White Flour), Shexiang (Musk, each 2 qian).
Grind the above six ingredients separately, pound into powder, mix evenly, and form pills like small beans using soft rice. Take one pill dissolved in mint water before sleep. To resolve food toxicity, take three pills with good tea, followed by four more. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.
Taiyi Bureau Miaoxiang Wan Prescription for Removing Child Accumulated Heat:
Chensha (Cinnabar, refined, 9 liang), Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Nifen (White Lead Powder), Naoshe (Borneol and Musk, these four ground together, each 3 fen), Jinbo (Gold Leaf, 90 leaves, ground), Badou (Croton Seed, 315 seeds, skin and heart membrane removed, stir-fried until ripe, ground like flour oil).
Mix and grind evenly. Refine 6 liang of yellow beeswax, add 3 fen of white sand honey, refine together until uniform, and form pills. Each liang makes 30 pills. Resolves five toxicities, treats tidal fever, accumulated heat, etc. For tidal fever, accumulated heat, shanghan chest binding, yellowing, mania, restlessness, dry mouth, red face, and blockage of urination and defecation, take one pill with a decoction of Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) and Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root). For toxic dysentery with blood, take with Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) decoction mixed with a little Nifen. For alcohol, food, or tea toxicity, qi-phlegm stagnation with vomiting, use Nifen and Longnao (Borneol) with rice water. For poisoning with hematemesis, confusion, irritability, and near-death state, take with fresh human blood for immediate cure. For children's hundred diseases, fright epilepsy, acute and chronic fright wind, wind-phlegm spasms, take two pills the size of mung beans with Longnao, Nifen, and honey water. For various food accumulations and heat, red cheeks, irritability, restless sleep, crying, and dysentery, take with Jin Yinbohe Tang (Honeysuckle and Mint Decoction). Adjust according to age. For adults and women suffering from shanghan or epidemic febrile diseases, where yin and yang Qi bind, latent toxic vapors reside in the stomach, causing panting, restlessness, red eyes, irregular hair, lasting seven to eight days or up to half a month without relief, with unclear symptoms and chaotic pulse, one pill can be taken, or divided into three. Use Longnao and Nifen with rice water (less than half cup) to administer. One dose induces expulsion of all evil toxic phlegm and pills. If diarrhea needs to be stopped, wash the excrement, wrap in oiled paper, bury in the ground for five days, then retrieve; it can be reused for adults and children according to method, but saving three people makes it unusable. To accelerate drug action, pierce a hole with a needle, soak in cold water briefly, then take for faster effect.
