Liver Gan (Liver Malnutrition Syndrome) manifests with cyanosis of the face, eyes, and nails; ocular discharge and tearing with dryness and difficulty in opening the eyes; head shaking, eye rubbing, and prone sleeping; otorrhea with wet sores; abdominal distension with visible subcutaneous veins; emaciation; dry mouth and thirst; irritability and restlessness; and greenish stools. Treatment should employ Chaihu Qinggan Tang (Bupleurum Decoction for Clearing Liver Heat) combined with Lu Hui preparations. For regulation, Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) and Yi Gan Ling Formula are selected.
[Note] The Liver belongs to Wood in the Five Elements, its color is Green, and it governs the Sinews. Therefore, Liver Gan presents with cyanosis of the face, eyes, and nails; ocular discharge and tearing with hidden dryness and difficulty in opening; head shaking, eye rubbing, and prone sleeping; otitis with purulent discharge; abdominal distension with exposed blue veins; emaciation; dry mouth and thirst; irritability and restlessness; and stools as green as moss. Treatment should first clear the internal Heat, using Chaihu Qinggan San (Bupleurum Powder for Clearing Liver Heat) and Lu Hui Fei Er Wan (Aloe Pill for Nourishing the Child) as primary formulas. If the pathological condition subsides slightly, Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) and Yi Gan Fu Pi Tang (Decoction for Calming the Liver and Supporting the Spleen) should be used for regulation.

Note: Text says He Shi, likely a typo for He Shi Ni or similar, but strictly translating entity "He Shi" - Carthami Flos is Hong Hua, He Shi is Kaolin. In pediatric context, often refers to specific insect or mineral. Given "He Shi" usually means Kaolinite, but here might be a specific term. I will use the pinyin/latin provided in standard texts if available, otherwise literal. Actually, "He Shi" in this list likely refers to *Heshi* (Kaolin) or potentially a typo for *He Shi Ni*. However, looking at standard Lu Hui Fei Er Wan, it often contains *Wu Gu Chong*, *Lu Hui*, etc. Some versions include *He Shi*. I will translate as Kaolin.), Bai Qi (not present, wait, text says He Shi), Wu Yi (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus, stir-fried, 1 liang), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, washed, 2 qian), She Xiang (Moschus, 2 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind all ingredients into fine powder, bind with vinegar paste to form pills the size of millet seeds. Take 1 qian per dose, administered with rice drink.
