Tao (Right pulse) After childbirth, blood deficiency and Qi sinking have led to hemorrhoids forming in front of the anus, obstructing defecation. The treatment should focus on nourishing Yin and moistening the intestines.
Zhi Guijia (Prepared Tortoise Shell), Danpi Tan (Charred Moutan Cortex), Bai Jili (White Tribulus Terrestris), Huomaren (Hemp Seed), Zidan Shen (Red Salvia Miltiorrhiza), Guang Xingren (Light Apricot Kernel), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis), Qinjiao (Gentiana Macrophylla), Zexie (Alisma Orientale), Baishao (White Peony Root).
Wu (Right pulse) Two months after a miscarriage, consumption of fruits and melons damaged Spleen Yang, resulting in the loss of transportation and transformation functions, leading to diarrhea, with slight relief in the epigastrium and abdomen after defecation. This is caused by Cold-Dampness injuring Yang; the treatment should employ warming and transforming methods.
Jiao Baizhu (Scorched Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Chuan Po (Magnolia Officinalis Bark, 1 qian), Caoguoren (Grass-of-Parnassus Seed, 0.4 qian), Lianpi Ling (Poria Cocos with Skin, 4 qian), Zexie (Alisma Orientale, 1.5 qian), Shu Fupian (Prepared Aconite Carleil Side Root, 0.3 qian).
Guangpi (Citrus Reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Paojiang (Roasted Ginger, 0.5 qian), Zhuling (Polyporus Umbellatus, 2 qian), Wei Muxiang (Calcined Aucklandia Root, 0.5 qian).
Certain patient (Right pulse) Despite using methods to warm and unblock the Qi mechanism and rotate Spleen Earth, the distension persists. There is a sensation of stagnation and heaviness in the lower abdomen, and urination is difficult. This indicates Spleen deficiency failing to transport, with slight deficiency of Ying-Blood, and the Fire within Water (Mingmen Fire) failing to generate Earth. Treatment is difficult in this postpartum condition.
Yun Fuling (Cloud Poria Cocos, Yun variant), Danshen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza), Zhuling (Polyporus Umbellatus), Zexie (Alisma Orientale), Zelan (Lycopus Lucidus), Shang Guangpi (Premium Citrus Reticulata Peel), Sha Ren (Amomum Villosum Fruit, 6 grains), Jin Kui Shenqi Wan (Golden Cabinet Kidney-Energy Pill, 6 qian taken in two doses).
Certain patient (Right pulse) More than ten days postpartum, there is left-sided headache. Lochia is passing normally, but leukorrhea occurs frequently. The pulse is wiry and fine. This is Wind generated from Blood deficiency, with ascending Yang. The temporary strategy is to nourish Blood and extinguish Liver Wind.
Bai Jili (White Tribulus Terrestris), Ejiao Zhu (Ajinolatum Bead), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Danpi (Moutan Cortex), Mi Shui Chao Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome stir-fried with honey water), Quan Danggui (Complete Angelica Sinensis), Shijueming (Plankton Oyster Shell), Juhua (Chrysanthemum Morifolium Flower), Chuanduan (Dipsacus Asper Head), Yimucao (Leonurus Japonicus Herb, decocted to replace water for brewing other herbs).
Certain patient (Right pulse) Nine days after new birth, immediately postpartum, Blood rushed upwards to the head. Fortunately, stability was regained after half an hour. However, Liver Yang subsequently rebelled upwards: attacking the Stomach causing vomiting, invading the Spleen causing diarrhea, and disturbing the Spirit causing insomnia. Now, Stomach Qi rebellion has reached its extreme, manifesting as hiccups. The Left pulse is significantly stronger than the Right, beating forcefully upon deep pressure. There is deep fear that excessive Yang rising may lead to syncope. Urgent measures are needed to suppress rebellion, combined with calming the Spirit.

Yimucao (Leonurus Japonicus Herb, decocted to replace water for brewing other herbs).
Modified Prescription: Add Sha Ren (Amomum Villosum Fruit, 0.4 qian) once hiccups cease.
Chu (Right pulse) Postpartum lochia dribbles continuously, and the meridians and collaterals on the right side of the body feel uncomfortable. The left half of the human body governs Blood, while the right half governs Qi. Discomfort on the right side seems to belong to Qi pathology. However, it must be understood that although the left half is primarily governed by Blood, without Qi to control it, Blood does not flow; although the right half is primarily governed by Qi, without Blood to attach to it, Qi easily scatters. The current pulse is firm and fine, becoming wiry upon heavy pressure, indicating that old pathogenic factors remain, preventing the generation of new Blood. The proposed method is to harmonize Ying-Blood and regulate Qi, waiting until the dribbling stops before further discussion.
Danggui Tan (Angelica Sinensis Rhizome Charcoal, 2 qian), Zhi Wuzhigu (Cuttlefish Bone Calcined, 4 qian), Sheng Shu Puhuang (Raw and Prepared Lygodii Spora, 0.4 qian each), Fuling Shen (Poria Cocos with Hostwood, 2 qian each), Juluo (Tangerine Medullary Filaments stir-fried with Honghua Decoction, 1 qian), Yujin (Curcuma Longa Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Zuo Qinjiao (Left-side Gentiana Macrophylla Root, 1.5 qian), Chao Chishao (Red Peony Root stir-fried, 1.5 qian), Zidan Shen (Red Salvia Miltiorrhiza, 2 qian), Zhi Xiangfu (Prepared Cyperi Rhizome stir-fried black into charcoal and ground, 2 qian), Jiangxiang (Dalbergia Odorifera Heartwood, 2 qian).
Right (pulse) After new birth, excessive consumption of cold foods resulted in lochia stagnation, with abdominal masses and pain. A preliminary prescription for promoting circulation is proposed to observe the outcome.
Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome stir-fried with wine, 1.5 qian), Danggui Xu (Angelica Sinensis Tail, 2 qian), Wulingzhi (Trogopterus Dung stir-fried with wine, 3 qian), Chao Chishao (Red Peony Root stir-fried, 1.5 qian), Ganqi (Drynaria Rhizome stir-fried until smoke ceases, 1.5 qian), Chao Peng'e Zhu (Curcuma Phaeocaulis Rhizome stir-fried, 1.5 qian), Nanzha Tan (Crataegus Pinnatifida Fruit Charcoal, 3 qian), Wuyao (Lindera Aggregate Root, 1.5 qian), Shanjiapian (Tarsius Pangolin Scale, 1.5 qian).
Second visit: The mass has dissolved, but leg and foot pain occur, indicating blood stasis flowing into the collaterals. Alternating chills and fever indicate a struggle between Yin and Yang. Further promotion of circulation is required.
Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Zhi Banxia (Prepared Pinellia Ternata Tuber, 2 qian), Yujin (Curcuma Longa Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Qinghao (Artemisia Annua Herba, 2 qian), Nanzha Tan (Crataegus Pinnatifida Fruit Charcoal, 3 qian), Dadoujuan (Sojae Semen Praeparatum, 3 qian).

Xu (Right pulse) Urination is smooth, but abdominal distension and discomfort persist, along with pulling pain in the heart and back. Yang Qi cannot flow smoothly, leading to the condensation of Yin Qi, blocking both internal and external aspects of the five Zang organs. In this postpartum state, the situation is as precarious as morning dew.
Da Shudi (Large Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Preparata, 4 qian), Lao Shengjiang (Old Ginger, 2 qian stir-fried with Shudi), Zhi Chuanwu (Prepared Aconitum Carleil Root, 0.4 qian), Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome stir-fried with wine, 2 qian), Chao Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper stir-fried, 0.2 qian), Chuan Yujin (Curcuma Longa Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Quan Danggui (Complete Angelica Sinensis Rhizome stir-fried with wine, 2 qian), Dan Taoren (Single Peach Kernel peeled and crushed, 3 qian), Shu Fupian (Prepared Aconite Carleil Side Root, 0.4 qian), Zhi Xiangfu (Prepared Cyperi Rhizome ground, 2 qian), Rensheng Huisheng Dan (Ginseng Revitalizing Pill, one pill taken in two doses).
Second diagnosis: Chest and heart pain has ceased, and lochia has become slightly patent, which is unprecedented since delivery. However, abdominal distension remains as before. Although slight promotion of circulation has occurred, it is like pouring a cup of water on a burning cartload of firewood; it is not yet reliable as a stable solution.

Huang (Right pulse) Previously suffering from Liver Yang hyperactivity and Ying-Yin deficiency, excessive consumption of Longan Aril (sweet, pungent, warm, and hot) forced Heat into the Blood, destabilizing the fetus, leading to miscarriage at four months. Before and after the expulsion of the fetus, bleeding was profuse like a gush, causing sudden severe deficiency of Ying-Blood. Wind-Yang rebelled upwards, causing dizziness, tinnitus, and confusion of consciousness, fortunately settling quickly. However, mental fatigue, occasional disordered speech, upward rolling of eyes, and convulsions of hands and feet persist. Frequent thirst with desire to drink, heat in urination and defecation, and tearing pain in the vaginal orifice are present. The pulse is deficient and wiry; the tongue coating is floating and rough. All these stem from extreme Blood deficiency failing to nourish Liver Wood, leading to dryness and Wind generation, with risk of collapse. This must not be viewed lightly. The proposed treatment is to nourish Kidney and nurture Liver.
