Honey (8 liang) is boiled until rolling, then 1 jin of good-quality Shaojiu (Baijiu, 烧酒) is added. It should be taken as hot as possible in large quantities to induce sweating, followed by quiet rest in bed. The foreign body will naturally discharge the next day.
Fat and aged pork belly is mashed into a paste, mixed with a small amount of nail powder and ivory powder, and applied to the affected area to facilitate the discharge of the foreign body. Another prescription: Mushrooms growing on cow dung in the mountains are sun-dried, ground into powder, mixed with honey, and applied to the site for spontaneous discharge. Another method: Cold-food maltose (Han Shi Tang, 寒食饧), prepared during the Cold Food Festival, is applied to the wound. When pain ceases and itching occurs, the foreign body discharges. Another method: Half a seed of Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆) and one dung beetle (Scarabaei Siccus, 蜣螂) are mashed together and applied. Extreme itching indicates imminent discharge. If a tin pellet has penetrated the flesh, mercury can be poured into the wound to dissolve the tin pellet.
Drink one cup of Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum, 麻油), and apply Realgar (Realgar, 雄黄) externally to eliminate toxicity spontaneously. Another method: Rhinoceros Horn (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 犀角) is sharpened and inserted into the wound. Drink one cup of Jinzhi (Golden Juice, 金汁 - clarified human fecal liquid), and also apply it externally to the sore. If Jinzhi is unavailable, fecal juice may be used as a substitute.
Needles without barbs remain stationary; those with barbs migrate with Qi movement. If the needle migrates toward the heart pit (Xinwo, 心窝), the condition is dangerous. Several crow feathers are roasted until scorched yellow, ground into powder, and taken with wine (1-2 qian). Externally, Che Nian Zhi You (Chariot Grease Oil, 车辇脂油) is ground into a paste, mixed with Magnetitum (Cishi, 磁石) powder, and applied 3-5 times to facilitate the expulsion of the needle. Another method: Rat liver and rat brain are mashed into a paste and applied. Another method: Cow dung pellets drilled by insects in mountainous areas, which are hard, round, and bullet-shaped, are collected. These are extremely fine, mixed with sesame oil, and applied overnight to facilitate the withdrawal of the needle. This method is also effective for arrowheads embedded in flesh.
If rust (Yahuang, 牙黄 - iron oxide/corrosion) enters the flesh and cannot be expelled, severe cases may result in death, while mild cases lead to chronic ulcers. Cleanse the area with human urine, soak for 1-2 shichen (2-4 hours), and after the rust is expelled, apply a mixture of dried Bie Jia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, 鳖甲) and Gui Ban (Plastrum Testudinis, 龟板), roasted and powdered, mixed with sesame oil to cure. Another method: Liquid human feces or chicken urine can be applied. Another method: Roots of Millettiae Speciosae Radix (Qianjin Ba, 千斤拔) mixed with egg white, mashed and applied, is also effective. Historically, a person whose finger was bitten nearly off sought medical help. The physician demanded high compensation, refused by the patient, and left. The patient treated himself with this remedy and recovered completely in three days.
